Michael and the Opium Bar team did a fantastic job hosting our work event. Michael was the best at responding during initial communications, provided one of the best minimum spend quotes, had a great appetizer menu, and even offered additional vegetarian options not on the menu. We had about 30 people for the evening and the space easily accommodated us. Vik and David were great hosts as well. Highly recommend the cool vibes at Opium Bar for a private event

We had an incredible party for my husband's 40th birthday at The Opium Bar. Michael was amazing to work with from start to finish, and the bar team/overall service was phenomenal. My guests all commented on how cool the venue was, it was a great space for 35 people (intimate enough to feel busy but not cramped). Amazing cocktails as well - be careful of the delicious sake flights :). Highly recommend!

Was looking to celebrate my 30th birthday and Opium was the first bar to show up. Can’t recommend this place enough. Michael took care of me and the party all night with exceptional service throughout. Food was great and the different drinking options were perfect. Opium Bar is a great little find. The cocktails are great and the place can be rented out fully or partially for an event. The staff were super friendly and amazing. Michael, the owner made the event rental a breeze by promptly providing all the information up front. Highly recommended for cocktails or your next event.

Long overdue review but I wanted to share the phenomenal experience I had hosting my birthday party here back in January.
Michael, the owner, was wonderful to work with and made sure everything was taken care of. We went back and forth a few times on the number of people and settled on doing a partial buyout which allows for 35 people or less. There was no fee to book and the minimum spend was reasonable. We were able to bring in cake and play a curated playlist via their speaker system. Michal was a great communicator, and accommodating when we arrived a little earlier to get setup and decorate with some balloons / banners and themed table toppers and napkins
We also placed an order for some snacks ahead of the event - everything was delicious. We had edamame, fries with truffle oil, popcorn chicken, panfried beef dumplings and takoyaki.
The staff were amazing and ensured that the drinks were flowing and everyone was having fun. Cocktails were unique and tasty - dragon fruit gin sour was my favourite.
I highly recommend Michael and his team if you’re looking to host an event. I truly appreciated their hard work in making this birthday one for the books!

I have visited a lot of restaurants in Toronto and being a Torontonian I could say this is one of the hidden gems. I have worked with the owner Michael and he truly cares about the craft of owning a restaurant and bar. He puts care into his clients and food which is displayed with his bar.
Those are looking to throw an event, this is a great space to do so with some of the best customer service and food. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cosy date to running an event.

The vintage decor is nice, but that’s about it. Drinks are overpriced for what you get, and while they do have non-alcoholic options, the overall selection isn’t great. The space is cramped, making it uncomfortable when it gets busy. Food is passable but nothing special. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot, this probably isn’t it.
