Clean and great staff! We’d definitely stay there again
Sunday and there was supposed to be a blues band ... we paid $20 to hear a very average duo that only played the occasional blues tune. So much for a band. Then they insulted me with a $33 Bill for 'house red' . I hope the Toronto Blues Society is run better than The Rex
Ideal location in Toronto, excellent room, top-notch service and staff.
Walkability: Easily accessible from the airport and close to everything in Toronto

First time, but won't be my last. Excellent venue with a good selection of food and drinks. Cover is a great deal for the quality they're known for and I was not disappointed.

Unpretentious hotel with no elevators. Great jazz bar though. Not to be missed if you are in Toronto and love jazz.

Revisiting Toronto with an old friend of mine, we decided to take up residency at the Rex for a long weekend. Inexpensive rooms, great food, incredible staff and of course, wonderful music. Got to know the staff very well including Oliver at the front desk and Bob, the owner for 50 years and running. These people are incredible and made our weekend a true highlight. I will now have to do this again in the near future. Thank you, Rex!

Our visit to The Rex Jazz & Blues Hotel in Toronto was disappointing from the start. When we arrived, the doorman was nowhere to be seen, so we walked inside. Despite the place not being busy, a waitress quickly and rather rudely told us to go back outside and wait for the doorman. It was a very cold night, and being sent back out to wait in the freezing weather felt unnecessary and unwelcoming.
During our short time inside, we caught a bit of the live music, with a lady singing what sounded like a lament in a foreign language. To be honest, the performance wasn’t enjoyable – it had a melancholy tone that just didn’t resonate, and we were almost relieved to be on our way out. Given the lack of warmth from the staff and the underwhelming music, it’s unlikely we’ll be returning to The Rex anytime soon.

Terrible service. I have never seen such rude and rude people in my entire life.

We went there (to the jazz bar) yesterday with some friends. We came from Brazil to a medicine Meeting in Toronto. Not our first time. It is crazy but, we were offended many times by the manager. Probably the worst that I knew. He came screaming loud twice about the use of cellphone when we were just sharing contacts. Shame on this guy. Please, brazilians …Dont go to this poor place. Nice music but with a very bad team.

It's not literally a 5-Star hotel, but it's perfect for what it is. An affordable and clean place to sleep in downtown Toronto. It's closer to a hostel I suppose than a hotel, but there are private rooms. I'm pretty picky with hotels and comfort, so I was anxious based on pics, but I really liked it. It's kinda old timey too as it's literally a room above a jazz club, like you're a traveling musician in the roaring 20s or something.

The young lady at reception always said hello in a friendly manner, but was otherwise a bit disinterested and on her cell phone. The room was relatively small and a bit old. Unfortunately, the window in the part with the A/C was only covered with a film and let in a lot of draft and cold. The bathroom (shared bathroom) was dirty and here too the cold came in through the closed window. So showering was very uncomfortable. It was very, very loud. The music could be heard loudly through the jazz club until the early hours of the morning and the street noise came in through the window that wasn't completely closed. If you wanted to have breakfast in the hotel, or even just get the complimentary coffee and toast, this is only available from 9:30 a.m. at the earliest.

The room is simple, but the location is perfect, and cheaper than anything else. Jazz is also great
