The pay as you go Improv Class at SoCap was oodles of fun! A low key, friendly environment led by a supportive and well versed actor, (plus an Improv comedy show right after!) - What's not to love? I would highly recommend this to others!
Great place for beginners to get into improv and grow their skills.
Great drop in improv classes! The organizer is also really professional - they got back to me quickly after my credit card was charged twice when buying a single ticket.
Great Improv!!
Cool venue, teacher and fun to inprov!
Not my thing. I may not be back. But the people and the experience was a 5******!
I have never been here and I don't know where it is.
Comedy was fantastic! Has a dive bar kind of feel to it. If you want a nice bar and washrooms with a high class experience, look elsewhere. If you want a dive comedy club authentic experience of Toronto and can sacrifice glamour, this spot is for you. Comedians were very good, crowd was good. Would definitely return!
I’ve attended Improv Fundamentals 1 and it’s been an incredible experience. I’m currently in Fundamentals 2 with Lisa (she’s a fantastic instructor!) The classes are fun, engaging, and the community is incredibly supportive. I’ve learned so much, not just about improv but also about communication and feeling more comfortable being myself. Highly recommend to anyone looking to grow, have fun, and meet great people.
I went to SoCap Comedy twice this week. Once as an audience member on the 2nd floor, and then the second time as a producer of a comedy show on the 3rd floor.
I have nothing but rave reviews on both counts.
The 2nd floor is quite large, has an excellent stage, terrific lighting, and wonderful sound system, run by a total professional. I saw a show called The Practice Show which, I was told was pretty much a rehearsal with improv troupes trying out new material, new forms, etc..
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of work. The teams were tight and showed strong, listening skills, which is especially hard when you were trying out new things.
It’s an excellent show that is in the space most Monday nights and I definitely think you should check it out.
As a producer, I produced a show on the 3rd floor, which is the smaller more intimate space. Our show was a mixture of older and younger comedians. I think it’s important for the generations to play together.
Renting The Cabaret 3rd fl Space at SoCap was terrific! The warmth they showed, and the level of professionalism at SoCap is unparalleled. The deal is phenomenal, and this little space is a gem! It’s so nice up there, that it’s like stumbling into a little secret space.
This is my first choice space in Toronto!!
I’m going to be at SoCap again later this month to see The Stupid Good Show with The Coincidence Men and guests, which happens the last Friday of every month.
Looking forward to it!
We attended the comedy show last night. They were all really funny.
We've been on danforth for a decade. Didn't even know it was there. 😭
Hidden 3rd floor gem for sure. We will be back for the comedy shows 💯
I highly recommend checking them out.

They had a host and 2 guests who did a couple of minutes scene with each audience member (who has signed up to do a scene you can also spectate). The audience member for each scene got to request an idea from the crowd and choose the response. Some people asked for a place or a food, you could do an animal or a color, and basically that's a topic for the scene and the host/guests were amazing at making something happen from a small idea.
It was an incredibly fun experience! I'll be back as often as I can! Highly recommend!
Strictly average standups put up on the 1st Nov show. It was evident by the silences from the audience that the jokes were lacking any wit or depth except for the Jamaican and the software engineer comedian. The ambience was worsened by a hype lady seated on the last row that was so loud (also unnecessary even because she laughed at points when there was no joke!) and due to which, some of the words said during the standup were missed and couldn’t even be heard!
Great atmosphere, the place has really changed and looks amazing.
I attended "One Night Only - An Improv Comedy Show" on Sunday Aug 26. I am always impressed with the quality of people and shows eveytime i attend. I particularly enjoyed the tree house skit, where 2 kids were looking at their neighbours through binoculars and finding out some sketchy things. I was waiting with both anticipation and worry about what they will discover next :-).
There were many more other funny skits. My compliments to the performers.
I will be returning to this venue. 5 stars.

Great vibes.
Went for the New friends improve class last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a very informative, inclusive and fun class with our instructor Asha. Definitely going back!
