Picture this: warm chestnuts roasting over the stove, the aroma filling the house while you and your friends eat, drink, and be merry! Comforting, right? Daigyo Cafe's (4909 Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5N4) chestnut tasting event replicated that comfort to perfection! We started out with an Oolong Tea Chestnut Mont Blanc Parfait - with the oolong tea infusing a rich, earthy flavor into the velvety chestnut puree, the parfait had a variety of nuanced notes that danced on my palate with every spoonful. The matcha mont blanc parfait was even better: with the vibrant essence of matcha powder intertwining with the chestnut puree, the parfait was a fusion of earthy and indulgent flavors with each luscious bite. The hot and iced Oolong Tea Chestnut Lattes made the afternoon even better - with the nutty sweetness of the chestnut meeting the subtle notes of oolong, the hot latte offered a comforting warmth during the chilly weather. The cold latte offered a refreshing spin on the same drink, presenting a delightful contrast between coolness and the beverage's intricate flavors. However, the true highlight was the Houjicha Chestnut Cake - with the perfect balance of toasty houjicha flavors and the sweet, nutty essence of chestnuts, the delicate crumb revealed layers of houjicha-infused sponge cake, filled with luscious chestnut cream, offering a creamy richness in every decadent bite.Should you find yourself craving Japanese cafe food in a comforting ambience, Daigyo is the place to be. The down-to-earth venue and the expertly prepared beverages, parfaits, and desserts are an absolute delight to visit - highly recommended! To hear more about this review, follow us @eatinontario on Instagram, TikTok, & Facebook. ✨??

Came here for a quick coffee and bite. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere, so I sat down for a bit to do some work before heading out. Staff is friendly.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts!Daigyo Parfait, Chocolate Lava Cake - A silky smooth mouthfeel and a complex flavour profile from the matcha and brown sugar syrup bring a multi-layered taste that's bitter, sweet, and fragrant. The toasted rice sprinkled on top and inside provides the much-needed crisp texture, along with some jelly. Contrasting this lighter-tasting dessert is an explosion of chocolatey cocoa aroma. One bite is all it needs to be that catalyst of a rich, fragrant explosion in your mouth, with its super smooth texture being the cherry on top.

Best matcha in town. Happy they have reduced prices, I had stopped having drinks when they raised the price

I ordered a hot matcha latte. It had a weak matcha taste and it was warm. Almost just tastes like steamed milk. I did tell the batista about the temperature of my latte. They dumped my drink back into their cup and steamed it. Pretty unsanitary.Pretty disappointing. Two drinks for nearly 16 dollars. Not worth it at all

Great study place, relaxing and quiet. The scent of matcha filled the air as I walked into this establishment. Although the prices are quite expensive, I would say that it is worth it for this quality treat! The white peach jasmine tea was quite a delight as the small dried pieces of peach added a peculiar texture. The tea itself was not too sweet, but sweet enough for sweet-lovers to still enjoy it. Overall, good place if you’re willing to spend good money for good food.

I usually have my matcha softserve craving fixed here (since Tsujiri) but stopped going when they (Daigyo) only offered white peach flavour for quite some time. Went back today and surprised they have matcha softserve again but unfortunately somehow the taste was off, ice cream was kinda icy sorbet-ish and did not have strong matcha flavour as before - probably of cheaper lower grade/quality, definitely not worth the almost $10 per cup.

Had the Black Sesame Organic Matcha Latte and it was pretty tasty if you like black sesame flavor! I wished they had the Matcha Soft Serve available.

Visited Saturday night, a little busy, yet, quickly served by polite and efficient staff. I went for the citron lemon drink and it was very nice. Reasonably priced. There was enough seating although I suspect earlier in the day the store is very busy which might make it difficult to find a seat.

The organic hojicha smoothie was so strong and flavourful! Love how smooth and roasted the hojicha was. The shiratama oolong tea parfait was very sweet and goes so well with mochi. The decor was also very cute
