gorgeous space, knowledgeable and warm chef with attentive servers! love that the dishes are vegetable-forward with refreshing flavour combinations
I particularly really enjoyed the Blossom cocktail, sweetgrass soda, perilla leaf wrap & Starry Night (a Biryani with smoked cashews and fennel)
We were just walking around Toronto aimlessly, with no real direction. We like to tour like locals wherever we go😄We came across Hawker and love to support local all vegan eateries first! We love that they also source locally too!
A friend and I had heard great things about Hawker and decided to try it out for her birthday celebration. Nice that it was warm enough for us to sit on the back patio. The food was outstanding -- we chose six sharing plates, each with unique and sophisticated combinations of ingredients and flavours. Service was excellent. It truly was one of the most memorable meals I've had in a long time. Kudos to the chef!
amazing food, very fresh and the taste is nothing like i’ve ever tasted before. the music is really good and so are the overall vibes of the place. def a good sandwich spot in downtown.
Tasting menu exquisite. Chef Cam did a stellar job of communicating the food contents with enthusiasm and superb taste levels. We’ll be back!
A very nice variety of vegan dishes. Not just solely relying on soy or tofu. I had the Spring (dosa with fava beans and sweet potato post) and the Valley (turnip cake) with the kombucha. Really enjoyed the Spring. The Valley was mid. But the kombucha was downright worse than store brands. Portion sizes were quite small for the price. It's true they're supposed to be "small plates" but the size didn't align with the price.
Absolutely love the smoked signature sandwich! $10 what a deal! Also their bread pakora, one time they were out of mango chutney and suggested a tomato substitute and I think I love that even more than the mango. They also will figure out substitutes to get around my red bell pepper IBS problems.
Went here for dinner with a friend and we had a great time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the service was friendly & professional. I highly recommend it! My only comment is that all the dishes are small plates. And while they’re absolutely delicious (and also plated beautifully), they aren’t cheap. So it’s easy to rack up a high bill here if you’re not careful. But if you’re mindful about what you’re ordering, it’s a very nice experience.
Great food, nice cozy atmosphere. Definitely a must visit for any vegans/vegetarians!
My partner and I visited Toronto last Victoria Day weekend. My partner is vegetarian, so I was on a hunt for places in Toronto that serve tasty vegetarian-friendly options. Hawker was in my short-list and so when we were at Kensington Market, I suggested that we check it out.
We had a lovely meal at Hawker!
The place serves higher-end, delicious vegan food that’s not only beautiful to look at but absolutely scrumptious. Everything we ordered was a hit--packed with flavour and perfectly cooked.
Service was also good, and the vibe was relaxed yet refined. I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re looking for a special vegetarian or vegan-friendly spot in the city.

Small but filling portions. Great price for value
Everything about this place is awesome. Ambiance, food and staff. Try the paratha even if it isn't automatically served with one of your dishes. The lunch grilled sandwiches are also fantastic. And on weekends, try the ras malai ice cream. 10-15% off with VegTO discount card, too (veg.ca). It's a smaller spot so make reservations. Back patio is a vibe. Re: accessibility: only bathroom is downstairs and during colder months, can't sit out front which means there are a few stairs up, too. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-19
I like places that prepare dishes around a vegetable and enhance their flavors. Hawker does this beautifully. Friendly staff and fun to sit at the counter where you can watch the chef prepare dishes.
It was the first time so I decided to try out during Winterlicious. Despite my initial unfavorable reception, I tried again. This time John was our greeter, server and made our experience worthwhile. It was a 3 course menu and options were delicious The chef can be seen prepping meals [live action kitchen] which adds a lil character also. Note that it's a small kinda intimate restaurant with 7 tables and bar seating; possibly 4 people. I'm only rating 4 star because of my initial unfavorable experience
Admittedly my post is long overdue, but despite visiting this place quite some time ago, it's still worth giving credit to, albeit a bit late. The food I ordered was more like Indian fusion food - not quite like the authentic dishes you'd get at a regular Indian restaurant, but refreshingly "different". I believe their current menu has changed since my last visit, but if the quality is anything like it was, it's definitely worth trying. Updated from previous review on 2025-02-11
