Cute aesthetic. Milk cartons for chairs which look cute but are slightly uncomfortable so I padded mine with my jacket! The shrimp was very garlicky which is what I love! And had a very original taste. The rice was good and the elote was as well. The chicken wings were a little too much on the saucy side for me but I'm sure a lot of people love it. The vibe is cool and the wait staff were nice as well. Would come back if I was around the area!

Great food absolutely ruined by their abysmal dining staff. This was hands down my strangest dining experience in my 27 years of living. The only silver lining being that the food was actually quite good, so hats off to the kitchen staff for keeping this place going. The entire experience took over 3 hours, here is a list of everything that occurred…1. Group of 6 of us arrived, waited 30 mins for our order to be taken, and then server proceeded to forget all 6 orders and asked us to remind her a full 1 hour later2. Server starts to bring plates out one by one, with 20-30 minutes in between each dish. The first two dishes were not what we ordered (so she took them back to the kitchen)3. Openly admits the wait staff, including herself, is wasted and there may be mistakes on our bill4. Incorrectly adds $75 worth of food to the bill and then brings us a pen so we can fix it ourselves (????)5. Insists we're lying on how much food we ordered (which we weren't -- truthfully, we would've ordered more if she came to our table more than twice in the first two hours) and then threatens the table that "you shouldn't mess with Mikey" in an unironic, non-joking way6. Server flashed the table of patrons at the bar7. Upon leaving a $15 tip (which was generous given the above), waitress yells out to the bar "WHAT IS 15% OF $200? TALKING LOUDLY SO THEY CAN HEAR ME".Mikey, do better. Your food is good but your staff is a liability.

Great Korean joint and bar, with impressive food as well! We got the Bindetteok Mung Bean Pancake (cabbage, bulldog sauce, kewpie mayo, shisito peppers), Tteokbokki Rice Xakes (crispy rice cakes, gochujang glaze, scallions, sesame), Mapo Tofu on Rice (silken tofu, spicy mapo sauce, chilli oil, purple rice), Kimchi Fried Rice (black rice, kimchi, butter, seaweed, scallions, gim seaweed, corn), Garlic Shrimp (deep fried shrimp, garlic butter), and Yukhe Raw Beef (herb salad, crispy shallots, shisito peppers). I was neutral towards the mung bean pancake and mapo tofu on rice, I feel that there are more authentic creations of these two elsewhere. Having said that, everything else was absolutely amazing, especially the kimchi fried rice and garlic shrimp! Very flavourful, and perfect to pair with your beer or sake. Most of the dishes come in small or large, so depending on how hungry you are, feel free to opt for a mix.

Delicious sharing menu, lots of vegan options, enormous wine list, nuclear-grade sake, perfectly cooked rib-eye, great music, and an intimate late-night cyberpunk vibe. What’s not to like?

Came here on a whim when a friend of a friend was DJing. The wine list is a dream.... the food is INSANELY DELICIOUS. I am so obsessed with the rice cakes that I'm going back tomorrow to try it again and have more. Mmmm... I need to know where to buy the Korean mayo. I've never had such deliciousness in my life. This place rocks! And the staff were so friendly :)

I visited Uncle Mikey's on a whim on a random Friday night, and I'm very glad I did! Styled after a bodega, Uncle Mikey's is a casual hang that's actually very reminiscent of a bar you would find in the streets of Seoul. You're sitting on milk cartons and having your beverages under the warm glow of neon lights. It was conducive to conversation and felt intimate while maintaining a casual atmosphere. I had a taste of the chicken wings and stir-fried glass noodles (jap-chae, for those that are familiar with Korean menus). They deviate slightly from the standard recipes you would expect from a sit-down Korean restaurant. For example, the glass noodles have a Thai curry flavour and is heavier and more filling than the side dish you would expect to get at Bloor and Bathurst. Both were very good and I'll be trying other dishes when I inevitably visit again. Fun fact: there's a gigantic neon sign that says "SOJU" in Korean when you enter Uncle Mikey's, but there actually isn't soju on the menu (as of yet). We asked our server if they have a bottle in the back, and they actually did! I thought that was a little bit of false advertisement, but I got what I wanted, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Regardless, I had a great time at Uncle Mikey's and I'll definitely be back!

The wife and I popped in on Sunday and tried a few of the dishes, the standouts for us were the Raw beef and Shrimp dishes. The raw beef is served with a heaping amount it spring onions and fresh herbs on it, seasoned perfectly and bursting with flavour, I was very surprised at how good that dish was, I look forward to having it again. The shrimp tasted great as well, nice garlic flavour to it. The shrimp are not peeled and at first I thought it would have been an issue but they are fried nicely and once you chew it nicely its not an issue to swallow. Solid spot with some good, food, I look forward to trying more dishes.

This is a fantastic spot to grab a drink at! We stepped out of a gallery party to find a bottle shop on the Dundas strip and Uncle Mikey's turned out to be the perfect spot, especially since my friend is Korean. They have a few items on a cheesy poster-menu plastered on the plexiglass covid cough shield greeting you as you breeze in the place. The poster has BODEGA, which is Spanish for small boutique, grocery store, or depanneur if you're in Canada. Kimchi, K-food, BottleShop... kind of everything you need when out partying like we were on a Friday night. The signature item was a Bulgogi Hanger Steak for $28 which sounded pretty good but was sold out. Also we were there for bottles, not food. And Uncle Mikey did not disappoint to that end. A fully stocked front room with a couple fridges containing interesting things like home-made kimchi, imported asian sweets, snack food, and plenty of beers I have never seen before anywhere else. Very cool! The staff was super-chill, and very nice to deal with almost reading our minds standing there gob-smacked. "Would you like your to-go bottle of Saison opened?" Why yes, of course! "How about a glass for your beer sir?" Sure! "Saison (French, "season," French pronunciation: [sz]) is a pale ale that is highly carbonated, fruity, spicy, and often bottle conditioned." So there ya go, something interesting and new to go along with an equally interesting and new evening post-lockdown where everything seems interesting and new. We were back and forth to Mikey's a few times that evening, also enjoying another items I haven't seen before, single serve bottles of saki. Yes, it's true... Saki to go! Thanks Mikey!

Fantastic food! The dumplings are best I’ve ever had.

Great vibes, great food (the Korean fried chicken sando & starving artist noodles are delicious), great drinks. Also a little ways away from the city to have a bustling but not busy atmosphere.

Had the mapo tofu and fried chicken sandwich. Chicken was crispy and the mapo tofu was kinda like a fusion dish, with thicker Korean-style sauce. Really enjoyed the mapo tofu, very flavourful. The shop itself is quite small and so we ate outside (also COVID), but very cute decor inside with an assortment of snacks, knick-knacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), as well as a fridge with some ready-to-go foods.

Every item on this menu is delicious! I always get the KFC sando with the smashed cucumber salad-- & make sure to get some of ssam sauce to take home - makes everything you eat 1000x better!!

If I lived near here I’d be ordering the mapo tofu every night (but they do also do Uber Eats!). Amazing quality, generous portions, fair prices, fast service, and friendly staff!!

Because of the pandemic, Uncle Mikey’s menu offering is pretty limited - the bodega platter is such a good deal at $15 with a huge chicken sandwich, kimchi fries and dumplings. I got spicy, which at first I thought was a mistake because the chicken looked like it didn’t have any sauce. But it actually worked out well - no messy sauce all over but there was just enough inside the sandwich to make a flavourful difference. Chicken was also tasty. In the past, I recall really enjoying their gnocchi and Korean style beef tartare. Hope when things go back to normal, they still have those on their menu.
