The café itself is very pretty in a cozy bright space and the macaron i had was very vanilla forward which was pleasant however, those attributes were completely counteracted by the unprofessional service i received. I came here to scope out the place to see if it would be a nice café to take my friend who was visiting out of town so i ordered a specialty coffee and macaroon to go. The red hair barista was completely rude and unprofessional with me after she observed that i didn’t leave a tip. I do not tip on to-go coffee orders strictly dine-in. Her attitude was cruel and condescending because i didn’t leave a tip and my coffee was the worst i ever had in my life; i suspect she made it incorrectly because i didn’t leave a tip on my to-go coffee which is unfortunate because her petty behaviour hurts the business in the end. I didn’t end up taking my friend here for obvious reasons and when i told my coworker about the experience i had l, she said she experienced the exact same thing at velvet lane. she didn’t tip on a to-go beverage and the red hair barista was cruel to her because of it and made her feel unwelcome this is clearly a pattern and a practice at this café. I was completely disappointed as i work and live in the area and was hoping to be a regular but i won’t be mistreated just because i didnt leave a 40 cent tip. If a few dimes is indicative of your kindness then that lacks integrity and and says a lot about your minimal values and appreciation of customers.

First off, i’d like to say they have friendly customer service and responded to our inquiries very quickly . However, i’m not sure what happened with our order:
Cake order was scheduled to be delivered via doordash at around 2pm on Sunday Aug 17. I received a text message that my order was picked up from the store and was on its way at 1:35pm. At 1:55pm I get another text informing me that the order was cancelled (??) Then the order was reassigned to another dasher at 2:25pm and was delivered at 3:28pm… again, not sure what happened here.
Now for the cake itself: Looked great however the message and cherries were very poorly written. (see photo) We have seen other customers post images of their cake and their messages were written perfectly so i’m not sure why ours was like this. The taste was ok… a bit dry. But the size of the cake was perfect.
Overall disappointed for the price we paid and what we received.

My bestie wanted a Pride and Prejudice quote cake for her birthday and Velvet Lane did not disappoint! The ordering process was quick and easy, and the member of staff I spoke to was very accommodating of my special request for the hand piped message. We ordered the lemon raspberry flavour and it was delicious and HUGE as you can see from the photos. Money well spent . Thank you for making my friend’s birthday extra special !

I ordered a pink birthday cake for my mom’s special day, but unfortunately, the wrong cake was delivered to the venue. Instead of pink, we got a green cake with a note on top — complete with someone else’s name!
Since it was meant to be a surprise, there was no way to fix it in time. I also feel bad for whoever ended up with my mom’s cake.
The cake itself tasted fine, and we’re a pretty chill bunch — we laughed it off, made the best of it, and celebrated my mom anyway. Still, it was a disappointing mix-up.

Idk if the cashier was just tired but the service felt like I was being checked out by a high schooler lmao. I dont like that their vanilla flav has lemon in it :~/ also, it was funny to see the cupcake only had 1/2 a biscoff cookie, made it feel cheap tbh

Velvet is my go to stop when downtown Toronto.. Sophie and all the staff treat me wonderfully and the pastries & coffee are to die for. 10/10 would recommend.
Ordered my wedding cake and bachelorette cake from velvet lane and I wish we had found them sooner! The cake tasting for our wedding cake was overwhelming in a good way, there were so many flavour combos it was hard to pick! each and every one of them was tasty and so moist. Pick up for my bachelorette cake was seamless and only instilled more confidence in them to pull through beautifully on our wedding day. Bachelorette cake was a less complex order and was so easy to order online completed in a couple minutes and had exactly the design I was looking for. Could not speak more highly of the customer service, cake design and taste and organization! Thank you to the VL team for the seamless experience!!!
