We had a superb meal at Punch; we have not experienced food like this in Toronto — a unique blend of Indian and British flavours. The Scotch Egg, Mumbai Chat-Slaw, Mishkaki and the Eton Mess were stand-outs. The atmosphere is sophisticated and the service is excellent.
It took awhile for us to get any service after sitting down. More than 10 minutes passed before we got water. But once our waitress identified herself, it was warm and attentive from that point onwards. The noise level was at times unbearable, the music choices between tolerable to unsuitable for the space. Since the acoustic design was not optimal, I think if they lower the volume, it will be a lot more pleasant. For the whole duration of the dinner, we had to shout in order...
Sheldon was great - really friendly. Dined with colleagues and wanted somewhere quiet - this is a great place. Food was very refined & tasty- liked the influence of Indian flavors but not overt. Scone souvenirs were a nice touch. Loved the chicken biryani and the grilled sea bream, and samosas. Beef wellington was cooked perfectly. Shrimp dish was just okay. Would love more glass options for wine but it's pretty standard for Toronto restaurants. Only negative is the prices...
