The service is excellent and waitstaff are very good and very friendly. Some of the food items though are not that great. I had the nachos one time, and wanted to order them with ground beef instead of chicken. When I got it, it was chunks of steak, not ground beef. If they had told me they didn't have ground beef I would have ordered something else. I also asked that they take out the jalapenos as I cannot eat them. It was COVERED with jalapenos and even some hidden in the cheese. I did not enjoy them and ate 1/4 of it. I should have sent it back but I already had substitutions and didn't want to be a trouble customer. At another visit I ordered the bruschetta. This is NOT bruschetta. It is on naan bread, not a traditional bun. Instead of chunks of tomatoes and onions, it was slices of tomato and a couple of slices of onion, and covered in feta cheese. That is not bruschetta, I was highly disappointed. They do have some great menu items, the goulash is outstanding as is the chicken linguine and shrimp pasta. Their onion soup is really good, the onion rings and poutine are also very good. I was just disappointed in the two dishes I had.

A really hot night and really good beer. Busy place, Cold beer, lots of taps. On a busy corner, windows all open so much that it seems like you're outdoors.

Made a last minute decision to have lunch here after ditching plans to eat at the AGO gallery restaurant across the street - where the service was so slow and even rude, we needed an alternative. Arriving at The Village Genius was so much better ! We were welcomed warmly and the staff, food and drinks were perfect. The bartender even came to our table to make sure the drinks were just right. Amazing beer list too. If you are visiting the AGO I suggest you stop by here -,better service, food and price than the gallery restaurant- so happy we changed our plans. Thank you Adrianna, Colin and Perry - you all helped make our day great.

Been searching for the best burger in Toronto, and I finally found it. The genius burger was exactly what I was looking for. Huge and delicious. My only regret is that I did takeout and didn’t get it hot off the grill. Next time I’ll sit and enjoy it there.

Not good. Canteen quality eatery food at almost michelin chef prices. Want to charge $40 something for burger and beer? It'd better be the tastiest ever. As things are, with no sauce, flavorless and dry even if it were a $6 big mac. Only good for tourists.

Walking the city on what can only be the hottest day on earth, and we came upon this pub. The sides of the building open to become a big open indoor patio. Lots of two-seaters outside too!
We ordered the nachos to split and a couple of ice cold beverages.
The service was fast, even though we would’ve loved for our server Jill to hang out with us!! She is a GEM! Food was great; generous toppings. And the breeze generated by the copious amounts of high-powered fans was a welcomed reprieve.
Will make sure to come back the next time we are in the city.

Happened to stumble across this place whilst waiting for the hop on hop off bus, to my surprise their Guinness and Kilkenny tasted rather nice considering the distance from Europe. I've drank in Asia before and its terrible. Lovely spot to just watch the world go by.
