i Felt like the village mascot today!
Waitress Jill was fun, witty and sexy. I think she is the owner…
Was excited to try this spot as it’s been around forever. Got the classics Idiot burger and was quite honestly one of the worst burgers I’ve ever eaten. I asked for it to be medium rare but instead it was super well done and extremely dry. Services also wasn’t great as I asked for water 3 times.

Their Apple Crumble dessert was amazing, and it was convenient to find the full menu listed outside!

We were there for my friend’s birthday at around 1 am and had a brunette server. Each had one beer and wanted to order another one but the server cut us all saying we were too intoxicated to have. Considering we had to go to the bar to ask about the options and even order food, it was an awful experience to go through. Our server was chatting with the bartender the whole night and didn’t even care to check if we liked the food. We will never come back.

I’ve been coming to Village Idiot regularly, but one specific female server on the late-night shift (short hair, glasses) has repeatedly ruined the experience and honestly made us feel unwelcome.
Last night around 11 PM, we asked for drinks and she flat-out refused to serve us with a rude tone and no proper explanation. A different server helped us immediately afterward so this clearly wasn’t policy. It was selective behavior and attitude.
Tonight she aggressively checked all of our IDs, and after I found mine, she went through everyone’s IDs AGAIN, as if we were lying or trying to trick her. The way she spoke to us was not professional it was hostile, accusatory, and straight-up disrespectful.
We’re paying customers. We’re not here to be treated like suspects or talked down to. Her repeated attitude, dismissive behavior, and the way she speaks to people is honestly embarrassing for the business and completely kills the vibe of the entire place.
It’s a shame because other staff members have been fine, and we actually like the bar but one person should not be allowed to repeatedly disrespect customers and make everyone feel uncomfortable.
Management needs to address this immediately.
not what the dundas and mccaul corner needs but what it deserves

Village Idiot Pub exemplifies the quintessential neighbourhood gastropub elevated by genuine hospitality and thoughtful execution. The cozy, windowed interior with traditional wood finishes creates an inviting atmosphere ideal for post-AGO libations or casual gatherings. The beer selection demonstrates curation beyond the ordinary, while the kitchen produces honest, satisfying pub fare. Service consistently impresses with attentiveness and genuine warmth—a quality that distinguishes good pubs from great ones. The location proves strategically perfect for downtown cultural pursuits. For those seeking convivial atmosphere paired with reliable sustenance, this establishment richly rewards patronage.

Pretty mid service. We went on a Saturday night around 11. And hungry. They gave us kitchen menus. After sitting it took them 10 minutes to bring water and we asked to order. After asking to order we waited 45 minutes -and hour since we ordered to get our food. All at different points by the way, I waited 5-10 mins after my friends, and had to do the awkward thing and tell them to eat ahead as their food was getting cold. No sorries or anything from the waitress, I think she was pretty oblivious to the fact she took our orders and never checked on us again. Once we got our food tho, she asked us how it’s going like 10 times. So overstimulating, and we just want to enjoy our food. No complimentary drink or dessert for the extreme delay, and just left feeling disappointed and still hungry. Food tastes fine, and atmosphere is nice, but just didn’t do it for us.
The chicken wings gave us an overwhelming shockingly joyful full body sensation of bliss and enlightenment so compliments to the chef. Just don’t make us wait over half an our queen!
