I came to Old Broadview Chinatown to try "Completo," a Latin restro a couple of doors down. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with may tacos at Completo and was still hungry. This Chinese BBQ spot got my attention, so I popped in and ordered me some good old BBQ Pork & Soya chicken to eat at home. Don't remember "Wok & Roast Chinese BBQ," but it's been at least 5 years since I've been in this area because most Chinese restaurants have moved to Markham. A lot has changed in the area. When I got home, I did reheat my food because I prefer it hot, not warm. Keeping that in mind, it would have tasted better if I ate immediately. The meal came with my request meats and some broccoli. The BBQ Pork was solid. It was tender and had a good mix of fat and lean pork. The BBQ pork sauce was also a nice balance of sweet and savory. The Soya Chicken was good as well, but I wish they had included some ginger-scallion sauce. I'm not sure if this was even an option here. Even after microwaving, the rice was good, surprisingly not mushy, considering I asked for extra sauce over everything. I would come again if I'm in the neighborhood. For those wondering why only 3 stars if I enjoyed the food? Well, my rating would actually be 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't do half stars, and 2nd, I've been spoiled with great Chinese BBQ... that is "HKS Barbecue & Noodle House" located at First Markham Place. Don't get me wrong, this spot is good, but not I gotta drive 30 min to get my fix Chinese BBQ good. The service was quick and friendly. The decor is tasteful, causal, welcoming, and clean. If you have a craving for Chinese BBQ in the east end of the city, give this spot a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed... My 2 cents.

Cheap order experience. We ordered the 2 for 1 deal. Soup and general tso chicken. It’s. Basically two servings of rice then 1 order chicken. Dry and tasteless soup. The first order and last here.

I bought half a roast duck that was definitely not baked on the same day. It was dry, hard, cold, and woody. It was too deceptive. I advise you not to be fooled.

Been coming to this location for over a decade. Although I appreciated the owner and quality of food. The employee devalued the business. After leaving work, I arrived yesterday 30mins before closing. With a full table of dine in diners who were still eating. They were still accepting walk in orders. And as per usual they start packing up and only serve what few meat options they have left. Or whatever ready hot food is still available. They pack the remaining bbq in bin which is left on the counter. Seeing that the two option were in arm reach. I place an order of bbq & roasted pork on rice with the younger gentleman who is usually running the cashier. Without hesitation he place my order and serve the rice in the container but the man who chops the meat (butcher) refuses to serve the bbq pork and only offers the roasted pork. Assuming the barbecue pork was finish. I asked the butcher if I could get the duck that was hanging above his head that was in arms reach (meaning not yet place in the bin). And when I tell you the way he was refusing the order it was appalling. I heard him reject to taking the original order but I was under the impression that they didn’t have the item. By the time I realize that it was more of an inconvenience rather than not having the item. I decided to go next door to place and order since they open late. Only to walk passed by it afterwards and seeing the butch chop an order the he was refusing me, but served to the Chinese customer. I mentioned race not because I think they’re racist. But had I’ve been Chinese I felt that my order would have been taken. Unfortunately, this also is not the first time I’ve had a poor interactions with the employees.

Review for Wok & Roast is based on in-person purchase directly at the restaurant. It looks like this place has mixed reviews so I can only share my opinion based on in-person purchasing for take out. If you like the Chinese bbq boxed meals, then Wok & Roast is a great option. Located at the heart of the Broadview Gerrard Chinatown, Wok & Roast has been around forever (it sure seems that way). Featured in the images are their boxed bbq meals (2 item with bbq pork and roast pork; bbq pork only) and come with garlic broccoli included. You will also be asked if you want sauce on your rice (we always say yes). The BBQ pork is always flavourful, not too salty with a touch of sweetness. The roasted pork consistently has crispy skin and again, flavourful without being too salty and has an essence of 5 spice powder. Now, depending on which section of pork you get, you may get fattier or leaner cuts. Be sure to identify what you want to the staff so they can get you what you want. You can ask for leaner or fattier. We opt for the leaner cuts. Just keep in mind, lean doesn't mean completely free of fat. Boxed bbq meals come in small or large. I find both very generous.Another thing we like to pick up at Wok & Roast is their fried chicken wings. Get a large box for around $10 and it's generous. Flavour isn't too salty with a hint of 5 spice. Some might find bland but for me, it does the trick and doesn't seem too oily which I like.If you're not into boxed bbq meals, they also have rice and noodle dishes along with other Chinese dishes that come straight from the kitchen. You can eat in, take out, or do delivery. Can't comment too much on these but like I said, if you want a generous bbq boxed meal, you can certainly give these a try. They are our go-to place for bbq when we're in the area.

Hands down the best Chinese BBQ restaurant in Riverdale! The service is polite and efficient. The takeout counter is at the front of the restaurant. Although their name has changed over the years from Ka Ka Lucky to Wok & Roast Chinese BBQ, their ample menu offerings have consistently remained great. It's an East Chinatown institution! Came here for the BBQ dishes on rice (roast pork and BBQ pork) along with an appetizer order of Sweet & Sour Soup (more sweet and sour than hot and sour). Time and time again, their food is always exceptionally delicious. Left here with an extra large order of Braised Tofu to go.

Scam alert! Stay away from this store. Order from Uber, the Roasted pork and tofu on rice. The roasted pork is all pork fat without meat a little tiny piece of meat attached to the big trunk of pork fat. They also put some random pieces of pork borne, literally only borne without meat. Don’t order from them, pictures are totally different from real food you receive.
