An exceptional dining experience. Cosy spot with delicious food paired with an extensive and fairly priced selection of wines.

Y Not Italian has become our new favorite place to eat. The ambience is amazing, food is beyond delicious, the prices are decent and we can have a conversation without yelling to hear each other. Dave and Joe are absolute gems and are always very accommodating. 5 ⭐️ all the way!

This was our first dinner at Y Not Italian. It was terrific — great food, friendly attentive service, good value. The Cesear salad, sardines, pasta and fish were excellent.

I have known the Chef and Owner, Peter, for 20+years over the course of all his restaurants which have changed as the city changes. Y Not is just as superlatively good as Evoo or Spuntini (his former restos). What is a lovely bonus about this one is the cosy and intimate location allowing close customer service with the same delicious food we come to expect from him. This place also injects a much needed sense of foot traffic to a great old neighborhood patch of Toronto that is undergoing - and deserves - renewal. BTW, there's a cool back story to the location which I will not tell you but can find out if you go . Great for dates or friends just out for a bite at a great local place. EAT HERE!

This place is delicious! Really nice spot for a cozy fancy dinner with nice ambiance. I came with my mom and dad and did the three course meal for $47. Everything was fantastic, loved the Caesar salad and my pasta was also great - I got this creamy sun dried tomato pesto pasta with chicken and peppers. My mom got the special pasta of the day which was this like ricotta gnocchi in rosé sauce and she LOVED it I would highly recommend this item if you get the chance to order it I also tried it and it was amazing. Last but not least for dessert I got the crème brûlée which did not disappoint. Would recommend for a date night or a nice celebration.

This is the first review I’ve ever written, I’ve never felt the need to before this. My family and I were looking to have a nice dinner at this restaurant, we arrived and were sat at a table in the restaurant, about 5 minutes after that two other parties were sat. We ordered an appetizer, our main dishes, and drinks all at once. The appetizer came and we ate it.

After the appetizer we waited 55 minutes, until we got our main course meals, 55… minutes…

As someone who works as a server at a restaurant, the service here is absolutely embarrassing. While waiting almost an hour for our food, our server didn’t feel the need to check on us, he didn’t let us know why our food was taking so long, he didn’t apologize, he didn’t ask if we wanted another round of drinks, he didn’t do anything. All the while, the two parties that were sat after us had ordered, finished their entire meals, and had their plates cleared all while we were left waiting.

Our server brought the food and again didn’t give us a reason as to why the food took so long, didn’t apologize or offer any sort of amendment. My brother got salmon, it was overcooked and the skin was burnt and they tried covering it up with a bunch of sesame seeds! There was no shot we were going to send anything back as we didn’t feel like waiting another hour for food, my brother tried to finish as much as he could but ended up leaving over half of his meal on the plate. The rest of the food we had was mediocre at best.

Again, as a server myself, when food takes too long, I apologize and explain why, I get my guests food discounted or offer them something on the house for the mistake. When I notice people not eating their food, I ask if everything is alright and if we can fix anything for them. I check in on my guests more than once every hour…

To the server, you were frankly terrible. To the kitchen, you should take more pride in and be more careful with the food you serve people that are spending their hard earned money. To the owner, I hope for once you maybe reflect on criticism from your guests and think about how you can improve your business instead of leaving one of your embarrassing replies.

Safe to say we won’t be dining here again, this “restaurant” is a joke. Do better.
