I've dined in at Yanagi many times, most often for their lunch specials which is the best value while still being a good portion size. I got take-out today and was so pleasantly surprised by multiple factors:
1. The bento box was all separately packaged with a lot of care, including all the sauces/condiments, the teriyaki was thoughtfully wrapped in foil and the tempura was in a different box. We also ordered an udon and the soup and noodles were also kept separate to ensure they wouldn't get soggy - very nicely done and I really appreciated the time, consideration and effort!
2. Exact same portion size as dine-in: A lot of other places would give you less food for take-out because they're restricted by the standard sizing of the boxes - not Yanagi - they packaged everything in multiple boxes to ensure you received the same experience!
3. Easy-to-use online ordering system, fast friendly service upon pick-up - I would definitely get take-out here more often after this great experience (including 1 & 2 above) :)

Used to be my favorite place, now I can't even get authentic Japanese food. I'm pretty sure my ramen was made by a canadian... Tasted bland and it was plated like pasta*

The best sushi place ever! Me and my partner order our favourite rolls from here almost every week. We also went there a few times to dine-in over the last couple years and it's been always clean and welcoming, service is super professional and friendly. Food is fresh and absolutely delicious! If I had to choose 1 meal I would have to eat for the rest of my life I would go for salmon-avocado-mango hand roll. Seriously. The green and golden dragon are must-try's too. Every time we come in we get complimentary ice cream or appetizer from their owner. Great proffesional staff that serve great food. Thank you!

I visited today (Saturday) for lunch with my family. The food was very fresh and delicious. The sides and sushi were especially good. I was also very impressed by the server. She was working alone, handling both takeout and the dining area by herself. She checked in to see if we needed anything and responded to our requests appropriately. Because of her smile and kindness, we will definitely visit again

We are here on a weekly basis. This is a great local option - it’s my daughter’s favourite place if we don’t feel like venturing out of our neighborhood and need a meal. The udon is always a hit and the sushi is decent. The sushi rice is WAY better than the other nearby sit down sushi spots (and we have tried them all).
The only minor complaint is that service can be hit or miss. You basically need to run down a server if you need anything.

We visited Yangi Sushi on the Danforth as a group of six. At first the server looked surprised and mentioned she didn’t have a table for that many people, but when we asked if we could split between two booths she kindly agreed. A moment later a man picking up takeout mentioned she was the only server working and very busy — despite that, she did a fantastic job and kept up really well throughout our meal!
All the food was extremely fresh and tasty. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but the quality was there. We ordered the Yangi Boat for 3 ($94), plus Kimchi, Vegetable Tempura, and two orders of Salmon Roe. It ended up being far more food than we expected — the sushi boat alone would have been plenty for three people. We even needed takeout containers for the leftovers.
Our bill came to $183 for three people, which reflects both the generous portions and the quality. Overall, a delicious meal with great service under pressure — we’ll be back, but next time we’ll order a little less!

Always consistent, fresh sushi & rolls. Highlights are the Beef short ribs and the Green Dragon roll. Salmon sushi to rice ratio is very generous.

We ordered a boat for two and the o-toro sashimi for our lunch. The boat was fantastic! We were genuinely surprised by the generous portion size—it easily filled both of us. The shari (rice) was well seasoned and at the right temperature, and the neta (fish) was great.
We also tried the o-toro sashimi, which was on a great promo ($18 for 4 slices, down from $25). While it arrived a bit frozen and we had to wait for it to thaw, the quality was outstanding and it truly melted in our mouths once ready.
We'll definitely be back to try more!
