Yip’s Kitchen in the basement of St. Lawrence Market is the best Chinese lunch counter in the city. Service is always warm, and the food is fresh, plentiful, and full of flavour. Highlights for me are the ginger chicken, pork eggrolls, Singapore noodles, orange chicken, and BBQ pork — all as good as anywhere in Toronto. Extra points for being part of the Market, the place that started my own food journey. A perfect day here is espresso and a peameal bacon sandwich upstairs, then Yip’s on the way out with way too much food to take home. They also do catering — highly recommended.

So I was in town for the comic con event today and walked around 20 minutes to this place passed Union station to try out this new restaurant I've never been to. When I got there I was told that their machine is out of service and only cash will do.
The food looked good but since I usually avoid dealing with cash nowadays and prefer to use plastic.. That was enough to turn me off and go elsewhere instead. Thanks but no thanks.

Hits the spot for Canadian/western-style Chinese food! The sticky-sweet ginger chicken is amazing, basically like chicken candy, but I try not to get it too often as it's clearly so bad for me, hahaha. Get the eggplant when they have it! Staff are super friendly and the line moves fast. Food is consistently good and I've been here so, so many times.

The service here is wonderful and everyone is friendly. Unfortunately the hot and sour soup was sweet and the siu mai did not taste fresh.

My go to spot if you're looking for affordable Chinese take out food around St. Lawrence! The owner is always very generous and welcoming if you strike a conversation to them. Very authentic for Chinese food as well. One of the places I love visiting whenever I go to St Lawrence.

I rarely write a bad review but I feel I need to do so this time: An absolute disappointment!! Chinese foods are my weekly items and this is the first time ever I could not finish even 1/3 of the combo. The noodles were dry and tasteless, the general tao chicken was terribly watery and soggy (the chicken quality was to be questioned!), the tofu tasted like cardboard. All went to the garbage after a few bites. I can definitely find much better foods anywhere else, including the foodcourt at any Asian grocery stores.

Friendly staff, great portions, classic style BBQ pork and other items offered. Worth checking out on the lower level of the market.

Stopped for a cup of hot and sour soup and unfortunately it disappointed. YMMV.
I've come here for several years and never had a complaint until today. The older lady behind the counter said I could have an already-made order, similar to what I ordered, for $5. But then she jacked up the price to $8 which I found unfair. So I told her to forget it and just make the new one I'd ordered and she did it begrudgingly like it was the biggest imposition in the world. I'm sure someone has a kind reason for letting her continue to work there but her customer service days are long done
