everything was really salty and my beef bulgogi had a strange smokey flavor, not a fan! had a bite of my husbands chicken which was much better but still very salty ..
They don’t have most of the item in the menu. We couldn’t even finish the food that we ordered. Very disgusting taste
Very expensive for what you get. Cleaning clothes are not washed JUST BOILED ON THE STOVE. Big rats go around the kitchen (the food is covered but the food containers are not. When reported to the manager just got said to “leave them alone”. Washrooms are never cleaned. The owner is just amassing profit. Giving 2hrs shift to night staff and being always late on payment. I don’t know how is this place allowed to operate. (I worked here before thats why I know this)
I'm just grateful this yupdduk location has been around for as long as it has been. Personally the only brand I can rely on for the spicy rice cakes that I crave. Great prices & typically friendly, cheery staff. 10/10 support this business!
I dined in and the wait was quite long for some fried chicken. It was served not hot more on the cold side. I now have after taste of only garlic hours lafer. Unpleasant experience.
Annoying how their Uber eats prices are $5 more for order take out even if you are going to pick up from the store.
You should name this Yupgi Potatoes instead of Chicken
Rose and chicken was so good
We always come back just for their side dishes — especially the BEANS!!
First.. Please excuse the poutine in the pic we got from costco - it’s definitely not included here 😂
We got the Yupgi combo as a takeout during our visit to Toronto - spice level 1 tteokbokki with glass noodles and cheese added on (sausages are included), steamed eggs, and rice balls. It was my first time trying Yupdduk cause I can’t visit Korea ($$$), and I was so happy to find this in Toronto.
The food was amazing! I debated between Level 0 and Level 1 spice, because I’m not good with spices even as a Korean lol but I ended up getting Level 1. The rice cakes weren’t as spicy, but when I got to the glass noodles and fish cakes, it got really spicy for me because they absorbed the sauce much more. As a reference, I find carbonara buldak to be spicy so… there’s that.
The sauce was definitely intense. It’s spicy, salty, thick, and bold. A tteokbokki Youtuber I like describes the sauce to have a strong fish msg flavor, and I was definitely able to taste that. It’s not “fishy” in a bad way at all - it’s this strong fishcake flavor. Which I really enjoyed!! I think it’s cause the base of the sauce is made with seafood/fish stock (anchovies, crabs, etc). If you’re into this type of intense tteokbokki more, you’d love this place.
The steamed eggs was a perfect balance with the spiciness. It was like pudding! They definitely strain the eggs before making it. It had some sesame oil flavor, and it was just sooo good. The rice balls were also a great compliment to the spiciness. The overall balance of the Yupgi combo was amazing!
I would just note that for take out, the mozarella cheese comes unmelted. They write a note on the container to microwave it for 1.5 min, which I did.. but unfortunately, it does depend on the microwave you have. The one I used at the hotel made it overcook with 1.5 minutes, so it hardened as you can see in the picture. I microwaved it a bit less for the second batch, but it was still pretty overcooked. It ended up being rubberish so we couldnt really eat it 😞 I would either keep a very close watch while you microwave and keep mixing, or honestly, just dump the mozarella straight into the tteokbokki while it’s hot and melt it in there.
The service was good too. We only went in to get the take out, but the servers were kind and offered me a chair to sit while waiting.
The atmosphere.. The inside interior looked nice. We went in at night so they had the lights dimmed for the pocha, and it was a great atmosphere for group of young adults to go for a drink/hangout.
BUT, the hygine was pretty questionable. I got a look at the opened kitchen while getting the takeout, and even in the dark, I could see how dirty it was. The grease, the stains around the cooking area, etc… Just not really taken care of well. I’m just going to hope it was the lighting, but it does make you hesitate a bit.
Overall, great food and experience trying authentic, Korean tteokbokki.

Food was average, service was great on the day I was there
Went last Sunday and everything was great and delicious. Every time Julia was friendly, nice, thank you so much!
No more cheese topping on top?
Omg! This place…delicious rice cakes, chewy, savoury, and 10/10, ugh I wish I could eat here every single day. Yum!
Wanted to try this place since 엽기떡볶이 was my favourite ddeokbokki place in Korea. We ordered the rosé yupgi ddeokbokki combo, which comes with a steamed egg and rice balls. Everything tasted great and probably one of the more authentic ddeokbokki that you can find in Toronto. The only thing is that the rosé flavour wasn’t that strong and we initially thought that they gave us the original flavour. Turns out, it was indeed the rosé flavour and that this was just their recipe. Portions were plentiful and was enough for three people.
In comparison to the original 엽기떡볶이 in Korea, portions are definitely a lot smaller. Taste wise, I still think that nothing beats the 엽떡 in Korea. Still an overall great experience! Felt like I was back in Korea. Sad they didn’t have 쿨피스 to go with the ddeokbokki though.
As for the service and atmosphere, everything was great. The service was great and the server kindly explained the rosé issue and offered to remake it, but we declined and thanked them for explaining.
The yupdduk in Toronto definitely has a more bar vibe compared to the restaurant vibe in Korea and they also offer more diverse menu options!
