This used to be our favorite coffee spot. Until a new guy started working there. Heavy set man with glasses. Maybe a new owner? He is so rude to the customers. As though he is put out by being in the service industry. Unfortunately, they have lost our business.

*Do not come here if you have more than 4 people. They will refuse to serve you.*
We have been looking forward to trying Alchemy Coffee for months now. Our parents came to visit us in Toronto for the first time in 18 years so we decided to take them here thinking it would have been a nice place for brunch, but we were in for a surprise. We were a party of 7. Apparently this restaurant doesn't take this size of guests. The servers told us to go to the Richmond Hill location. Which would be fine if we didn't make plans to come here in the first place and the elderly people that were to join us were already on their way, and it would be difficult for them to change the meeting location at this point in time. We then suggested to sit separately with the server, 4 at one table and 3 on the stools by the window. The server hesitantlly allowed us to sit down, only to tell us a minute later that this is forbidden and too complex for them to process. What really annoyed us the most is when he said that there was a waiting list (apparently this is a thing and he didn't say this first) and he blatantly said, "WE CANNOT SERVE YOU". I am sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous because the server didn't tell us the first thing that there was a waiting list (but no one was even there waiting) and attitude was just terrible. It feels like this place is doing so well financially, that they don't need our business. We will keep it that way and take our business elsewhere. Its not like Alchemy Coffee is the only place that does brunch. Please have your waiters trained to have basic customer service skills to be courtious. What a total waste of time.
Very average food for a higher end price.
Server is friendly though.

We popped by for a quick breakfast. The staff were so lovely, and quick, and the food was so delicious. The Heritage brand coffee (from Pilot Roasters) was just perfect. We got French toast for my son and the breakfast sandwich (with bacon). The in-house made lime maple syrup was the best weāve tasted. I even asked if they sell it! Weāll be back!

Cappuccino was for sure taste good. The pancake I was disappointed middle portion of it was a bit uncooked. Not much of the berry topings so the pancake tastes ordinary and the sauce doesnāt help it either. Kitchen probably was busy took about almost 15 mins for the food to be served.

we arrived at 3pm asking for a table. there were several seats open and we were told they were only doing takeout. he said they would be unable to clean dishes. we asked if we could eat our takeout at an open table and he said no, we canāt wipe an extra table ... this is 1 hour before close.
The experience was so bad, we went to a McDonaldās instead

Service needs to be better. The server took my number at the door and neglected to take my name. Waited for 45 minutes and did not receive a text, went inside to check on the reservation only to find out my name was removed. After speaking with the server he claims itās because my name was not entered.
I take responsibility for not including my name but no acknowledgement that he only told me to enter my name. He then claims they texted the invitation but my number was entered as the name. No effort to try and send a message to āthe nameā. Clearly we were not a priority for them.
Based on the comments Iāve read itās the same employee (with glasses) that everyone has had a poor encounter with in the past.

Restaurantji Recommends
We have previously been to Alchemy and it was a 4.5 before, but our experience today was horrific and when we complained about everything that went wrong the server said āwell no one complains about those thingsā. Our food arrived cold, and one didnāt arrive until other people were finished and it was scalding hot. The server knew he was serving two elderly people and even managed to spill the tea of one person and didnāt apologize or provide napkins to clean it up. This literally was disgraceful!

A chill place to have coffee and food. Not many tables and it usually very busy on weekends. It closes early at 4pm and accepts cash and debit card only. Food is delicious and fresh , it is worthy to go!

This place fell off. HARD.
Three years ago, the food came to you served hot and fresh.
When I visited today, the flavours were bland, potatoes were cold and overall a very average meal for $20.
If you want a real brunch, there are two similar Richmond Hill places that do brunch so much better.
