Tucked discreetly off the main current, you’ll find Alchemy cafe —a bustling hub of comfort nestled in a small plaza. This small café but a cozy haven opens daily from 8am to 4pm. Inside, the ambience is truly comforting, modern design accented with a hint of subtle mystery. Menu on the wall offering a delicious variety of options with a fair size for a price that’s perfectly comparable to dining out anywhere else. And for the classic coffee drinks selection is delicious, crafted to perfection every time. While the shared parking is minimal and seating is limited, the comfort and value you find inside make the search worthwhile.

Been here a few times. Amazing food and coffee. But the service is unusual. They don't like accomodating different group sizes. Ive seen a couple with a baby told to wait for a table to be free even though there was enough seating if they moved tables and chairs. And it happened to me. We were a group of 6 people. They had 2 tables of 4 available. We told them we could split our group. They said no we were not allowed to do that and that we had to wait or leave. I understand it's their restaurant and their rules but I find it strange.

20251030 Update: The latte tastes great and the pancakes' portion is large and delicious.
2021: This cafe is having a good vibes. The latte is good which the bean is medium roasted with aroma and herbal taste with a hint of citrus without a thick body. For a cup of quality latte under $5 dollar, it is a great choice in this area.

I really hate that our experience this morning has resulted in my posting of this review. We have come to Alchemy regularly on many occasions over the years as we live in the area. While the barista we have dealt with regularly isn’t necessarily the most ‘friendly’…..his attitude and our interactions with him today were particularly rude and unwelcoming. We did not stay this time. I truly encourage a view to some better customer service. Unfortunately we will be taking an extended pause on our visits and will choose a different coffee shop.

In my opinion, this place is pretty good! The restaurant itself was pretty small, so seating is quite limited & many people were coming in to eat so they’d have to wait for a table or sit at the bar tables which seems like many people didn’t prefer. When we went, there was only one server on the floor the whole time so sometimes service would get slow when it gets busy if it’s understandable. We tried the Duck Benny & the Chicken + Waffles. The dishes themselves were a generous size, but most of the plate ended up being the salad they give you as a side dish. I wasn’t a big fan of the duck benny as much, but the chicken + waffles were pretty good :)
My favourite cafe in Markham! Excellent food and drinks, super friendly staff with a cozy environment. The portions are huge and reasonably priced. Alchemy is literally beating inflation. However, the shop is quite small so expect some wait time during weekends.
Absolutely fantastic cafe overall and I would come again and again.
