Absolutely will be coming back and recommending to others looking for family cooked korean food. Ordered the pork bone soup and gimbap. Portions were extemely generous for takeout. The quality and taste was great. Look no futher for a family owned korean business serving delicious food.

Really tasty Korean food for take-out. I usually get the seafood pancake and kimbap, and they’re always great.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this restaurant today was beyond frustrating. I placed an order through DoorDash, and what should have been a simple meal turned into a complete nightmare.

First, the wait time was absolutely unacceptable. My order has been sitting in “being prepared” status for what feels like forever. When I checked with DoorDash, it became clear the delay was on the restaurant’s end—not the driver’s. If you don’t have enough staff to handle the volume, why keep accepting new orders? That’s basic management 101.

The lack of communication is also shocking. No updates, no courtesy message—nothing. Just endless waiting while my food is probably getting cold (if it’s even being made at all). For a restaurant that positions itself as a quality Korean spot, this is a huge letdown.

I understand things get busy, but being overwhelmed is no excuse for poor planning and false expectations. If you’re short-staffed, turn off orders or give customers a realistic timeframe instead of stringing them along. People pay for convenience, not chaos.

Bottom line: Don’t order from here if you’re hungry or value your time. This experience has completely turned me off from ordering again.

This is for takeout only. If you like Korean food then you will like this place all dishes are great. Its a mom and pop operation and they even include little side dishes which I find a lot of other Korean restaurants don’t offer when you do take-out

Amazing Korean food and great service! We ordered #38, the family combo for 4-5 people for $119.99 before taxes. The staff were so accommodating when we requested to have the meat on the side because one of my kids is vegetarian. The order took about 25 minutes but it’s well worth the wait. They offered cutlery and packed extra banchan (Korean side dishes). The order has more than enough food for 5 people, definitely recommend this combo. The restaurant only accepts debit or cash, they also offered a discount with cash payment. My favourite was the Korean seafood and vegetables pancake. The restaurant also offered a special lunch menu during a certain hour. Will come back again soon to try different dishes!!

GEM Korean take out better than some restaurants! My husband and I went to this take out Korean restaurant first time today. We didn’t know that it’s take out only but we thought why not try it since we’re here. It’s better than the Korean restaurant chain one closed first Markham place recently. I ordered grilled fish mackerel and seafood soup tofu..my husband ordered bimbim bap dish and it actually came with appetizers. The quality of the fish and ingredients was alot better than some Korean restaurants we have been to. Appetizers was kimchi, glass noodles and cucumbers. It was 10/10 and the amount they gave us was alot more than we expected and seen. Had I not been so hungry and ate the food I would have take photos to share . I wanted everyone to know try this local Korean take out. If you are on way home or don’t want dine in try this place it’s better than many Korean dine in restaurants

My family’s go-to spot when the Korean food craving hits. We recently ordered the family combo and the staff was nice enough to make the dumplings half fried and half steamed when we asked about the options! The seafood pancake was still crispy when we got home. We had leftovers even with 6 people eating the meal. Amazing attention to detail - they poked holes in the boxes to ensure that the food doesn’t get soggy. The lunch specials (especially the gamjatang) are another amazing deal that we’d get from time to time.

One of our favorite Korean spots. They were a highlight for us during the pandemic

Food seriously lacks flavour but the size of condiments are very big compared to other korean restaurants. I will also say the price is reasonable. Only take out available at this place.
