The food was alright. I had their beef dip sandwich and there was an awful lot of fat but other than that it was great! I do wish there was the option for french fries. The chips were a no go for me. They seemed like they came out of the bottom of a bag of old kettle cooked potato chips. Their kids meal was massive and too fancy for my toddler. It was a grilled cheese, but the bread was very spiced, which I think is cool, IF it was an adult Garlic Grilled Cheese. I think this place is awesome and I love that it's in Washago, but the menu could use some updating imo.

I was told to try this little gem by a friend who lived in the area. Fortunately, I decided to go early, as they really filled up by midday. I chose to have the lunch special, which was a delicious soup, salad and ham slider. Everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about the buses going through town.

UPDATE: The chef reached out to me apologizing and reimbursed us. Now that is what I call good service! We had a nice lunch - the soup, salad sandwich special was great. We came for dinner and got The Cobb salad. It was terrible. It had a massive wad of guacamole on it, hot chicken with gravy, pork belly…it was a mess. They should stick to the classic Cobb. Also, bad service.

One of my favourite restaurants still. Food is amazing and restaurant so adorable and quaint. You really feel at home here. Tracey is the best of the best. She is very welcoming and friendly. Always welcomes us with a smile and and open arms.Totally recommend to anyone who wants great food and a comfortable welcoming place to eat.

Although staffing was a little short the Waitress was courteous and quick. We tried the daily special (Chicken topped Yorkshire Pudding) and the Peameal Sandwich. Both meals were perfectly prepared and very tasty, and Mushroom Soup that came with the meal was top shelf.Although the price point is a little higher it is well worth it considering the quality of the food.PS - if you're eating on the patio, keep an eye out for local wildlife

Went here Aug 29th for dinner .We were in the area from Ajax and our Nephew Colin highly-rated R Cottage.Nice restaurant. The owner / server Tracie (hope I spelled it right)was very helpful ,informative and funny and our waitress was sweet and did a great job .My wife ordered the chicken club and potato leek soup and I had the prime rib beef dip and house salad with homemade dressing which we liked so much we bought a jar of it to bring home .I have had beef dip sandwiches in many restaurants over the years and this one by far is the best I've ever had !I tried the chicken club as well and the soup and it was all Supreme! Our sincere compliments to the chef at R Cottage in Washago ! We can't wait to come back up there !

Absolutely lovely. Staff welcoming and attentive, food absolutely delicious. We were a large party and tried many of the dishes. The meatloaf was very well received, with a clean plate at the end. The chicken and dirty rice was very popular amongst the party, with the gravy topping it off. Persuaded into butter pie ( totally worth it,). All round, absolutely lovely. Cannot rate highly enough,

Came in with my youngest on Saturday. She is generally a fussy eater and she finished a whole quarter chicken. Both of us loved the food, and the service was great. Sitting on the patio was very relaxing. Thank you for the great experience, we will be back.

Quaint and cute restaurant in the heart of Washago. Great quality. Decor is cute. Servers were incredibly friendly. We were there July 1 so they were very busy. Outdoor space looks lovely for an evening dinner, lots of string lights and a fire pit.Food was very tasty. He had the prime rib dipper with slaw and I had the spiced apple grilled cheese with potato salad. Two Muskoka lagers and an extra side of duck confit macaroni salad to share. We left with an extra macaroni salad to eat at home tomorrow because it was so tasty.Wasn't expecting that type of pricing for a restaurant in such a small town but the quality and the serving sizes justify it!

This is such a wonderful place! First of all, the staff is amazing: super friendly, welcoming, attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable. the food is simply delicious: I was so happy to find two vegetarian options and I can recommend the super healthy R Buddha Bowl (pictured). The restaurant (which also has seating outside) feels like home: it is beautifully decorated - there are also boardgames and some stuff to keep kids occupied. there is wi-fi for guests. I really hope I will be able to visit this magical place again! it was such a pleasure to be there and enjoy the food, drinks and the great atmosphere there.

A nice little restaurant with some cottage-themed foods.I ordered Bison Cheeseburger, which was good. They offer different flavours of pickles as a side dish. I ordered the Habanero one which was very tasty. The chips on the side were crisp and well seasoned. My wife ordered Smores milkshake. She liked. It was very refreshing and looked beautiful. The service was great. The waiting time for food was appropriate. And the environment is very cozy and well cared for. When going towards Muskoka we will stop by again.

I’ve visited r Cottage several times as well as using their bar-b-que chicken take-out. So it was an easy choice to use their catering services for a small family gathering of 12 people on the outskirts of Washago.. Their website holds a catering menu and the choice was for the Farmer’s Board charcuterie as well as Bison sliders and Prime Rib sliders. Pick-up from the restaurant was smooth, the food well presented.
