Marina was our server tonight and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! When it comes to service she is TOP NOTCH! She was so kind, efficient and took pleasure in taking care of our family’s every need. Marina went above and beyond to make sure we had a fabulous dinner and she did it with a smile one. Thanks so much Marina, we will definitely return because of you!

Disappointing. Firstly, the service was excellent. However since our last visit a year ago the food quality has dropped as well as the portion size. The pasta had little to no flavour, the salad size was a third of what it use to be with very little sauce. The kids only had 2 small chicken fingers with a few fries. East Sides use to be about plenty of good food for reasonable prices. Somewhere to come for a treat and lots of food. We didn't get this and so will not be going back. Shame on you management for making these cuts.

We visited this location on Friday to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday, and the experience did not match the standards we’ve known from East Side Mario’s over the years.

Partway through her iced tea, my daughter found a baked piece of cheese stuck to the inside of her glass. The drink was replaced, but there was no real acknowledgment from a manager and no discussion beyond a brief “sorry.” A contamination like that should be taken seriously.

I understand rising costs. The issue isn’t price — it’s value compared to what the restaurant advertises and what it has always represented. For years, East Side Mario’s has stood out for generous portions, especially the shared salad bowl and fresh bread, which have always been a rooted part of the experience. This time, that value wasn’t there.

Specific examples:

The Alfredo came in a noticeably smaller bowl with only three small strips of chicken on one order.

The calamari fritti no longer resembles rings or tentacles, and the portion was served in a dish about half the size of what we’ve always received at this location.

The salad, which has always been served in a family-style bowl for sharing, is now reduced to tiny individual bowls, and no one offered a refill, despite this being a signature part of the brand for decades.

We also come from a service background, having worked in fine dining. As a courtesy, we stacked our used plates, salad bowls, and appetizer dishes neatly at the edge of the table for easy clearing. Even with staff repeatedly coming to serve new items, the stack sat there for 15 minutes before we finally asked someone to take it away.

My pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy. Bread arrived late, in a crumpled bag, and we were given only a butter knife to cut it.

Our bill was about $180 for five mains and two appetizers. Under normal circumstances, that’s fair. The issue is that the food quality, cleanliness, portion sizes, and basic service no longer match the value implied by the menu, the advertising, or the long-standing reputation of this restaurant.

Busy or not, there is no excuse for dirty drinkware, drastic portion reductions without transparency, overcooked food, and slow basic service. This experience has made us reconsider returning in the future.
