I used to come here all the time. It’s been a while since I’ve been so I decided to have my favourites again. After eating some sashimi and one roll, I received my short rib. One bite into it and i had to spit it out. It was sour and bad. My friend and I lost our appetite and couldn’t eat anymore. They still charged us $90 and even told us the chef tried my food to tell us there’s nothing wrong with it…. That was a first. No longer coming here.

I visited Jinzakaya a few months ago with a group of four adults and a younger child. The restaurant has a cozy, authentic vibe with a small dining room packed with tables, which gives it a bustling feel. However, our experience was mixed.

When we arrived, we were waiting for the rest of our party and were told we couldn’t be seated unless we wanted our dining time to start immediately. Once seated, we were placed at a middle table that was attached to another party, which felt a bit cramped.

There are signs all over the restaurant outlining rules and limits on certain menu items, which made the atmosphere feel a bit strict. The staff were firm about enforcing the time limit for our meal, and while the food itself was fresh and delicious, the ordering system was slow and the staff weren’t particularly friendly or accommodating.

Unfortunately, despite the quality of the food, the overall experience wasn’t welcoming enough for us to want to return. It’s a shame, because the flavors were great — but the service and environment didn’t match.

Disappointed that the quality of the food at Jinzakaya has declined while the price has gone up. This used to be my favourite sushi restaurant, but there is no longer any good tuna on the menu and all the rolls seem focused on fillers rather than fish. They also removed the Tonkotsu ramen which was always my favourite. Seems the focus is more on Japanese appetizers rather than sushi now.

Not Kid Friendly
I wish I could give zero stars, but the minimum is one.

I visited with my 13-month-old and gave him just a couple of edamame because he couldn’t sit and watch us eat. The staff (her name is THEN or THAN or something) immediately told me that if I fed my baby again, I would be charged. Yes, when asked earlier if he would eat, I said no—but feeding a toddler two edamame shouldn’t cause such an issue as we are 4adults paying 160$ including tip. The least i expect is politeness.

What bothered me most was not the policy but the way the staff handled it. The response was extremely rude, as if I was trying to eat for free. She kept looking at us as if we were doing something wrong, which completely ruined our mood.

We have been regulars and genuinely liked this restaurant, but after this experience we will not be coming back. Charging $5 for children aged 0–4 years is already unreasonable, and with staff behavior like this, it’s definitely **not kid-friendly**

The salmon sashimi was off. It had a very unpleasant odor.

I have been coming here for years and the food is always delicious, service excellent, and amazing great vibe.

Sure the place is pricey but that’s their value proposition. I’d still be back.

Good but not cheap sashimi, sushi and a variety of cooked food.

Honestly, I’ve ordered from this company via Uber numerous times.

I always wonder why they are so greedy to not include chopsticks unless specified. Now I get sushi without soy sauce because I didn’t specify?

What in the…

Not to mention that when I called to complain about the issue, considering I was at work and didn’t have access to any soy sauce, I was told they are sorry but no attempt to rectify the situation.

Too bad so sad I ordered from this company, I guess. I’ll just have to deal with the mistake.

Busy place! Usually you'll have a 5 to 20 minute wait, but they'll call you when your table is open, which is nice. Suuuper tasty, and extremely efficient! All-you-can-eat is the way to go. The food is always beautiful, tasty, fast and satisfying. Staff is friendly, and the while experience is great overall.

Great food and always fresh. They do get crowded on Wednesday nights but the food is worth the wait.

My visit in 2023 was a positive experience. However, my subsequent visit in 2025 presented a different dynamic, with staff appearing rushed, and the overall atmosphere seemed geared towards expediting guest departures, despite ample time remaining within my seating allocation.

Jinzakaya is a decent spot for all you can eat sushi. The fish was fresh and most of our food came quickly which was great. The rolls didn’t have too much rice either which we prefer, but nothing we ate stood out to us. We were also a bit disappointed by the lack of torched sushi and rolls. All the workers were super friendly and welcoming, which created an inviting atmosphere. Not a bad spot for sushi and it was worth a try, but we wouldn’t come back.
