I dropped in to poppies today and there was a young fellow waiting on two girls. He was having a hard time entering their order in so it was taking a long time . There were two other guys working there that felt it was unnecessary to help out. When he was finished with them he just looked at me with a blank stare. No Hi or Can I help you, What can I get you? I gave him my order and paid with cash. He had my change in his hand and proceeded to drop it into my hand from a few inches. I find that so rude! I waited thinking he was going to get my bagels and some other guy came out of the back and had a bag with him which I assumed was mine but he stopped and started talking to some one else and then came back and handed me the bagels. No thank you or have a good day. I stopped buying bagels from City cafe in Kitchener because of their rudeness. The Poppies in Conestoga mall is way better service and much more friendlier. I will start going there from now on as I think that they are the best tasting bagels in town even though they are way overpriced! Update: I went to Conestoga mall location and they won’t sell you a plain bagel, you have to have something on it. This is just stupid! I give this business 2 years and they will be out of business!

I stumbled across this Gem by fluke as my husband and I passed through this town for a quick work visit. The minute I arrived I was greeted by Christian who is the absolute nicest “bagel guy” I love my bagels and I know them very well . I love my shmeer’s and I know them very very well but this place is way more than just bagels and crème cheese it’s an entire experience . If you haven’t tried the big Tuna omg you haven’t had a Tuna melt extraordinaire. It’s just a super win, run by people that love their job and equally love their customers . Thank you Christian no matter what you do in your life you will be rewarded because you are truly genuine. To the owners, I’ll be back you can bet on it .

Wife and I Stopped by Poppy’s Bagels early Monday morning and had a great experience. Bagels were fresh and warm, I got an everything bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese and it was great. Coffee was solid too. The young lady working was kind, friendly, and chatty, the kind of amazing customer service that you just don't get these days. Great food, great service. We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been a regular customer at Poppy’s and have always enjoyed picking up bagels, schmears, and sandwiches to go. Last Saturday, during the snowstorm, a friend and I stopped in for lunch and ordered the same sandwich, along with several desserts from the showcase.
While the sandwiches were good overall, there were noticeable differences between the two. The cuts and quantities of vegetables varied quite a bit — one sandwich had significantly more jalapeños than the other, the red onion slices were very uneven and difficult to eat, and the tomato slices differed greatly in thickness. These inconsistencies affected both the eating experience and, potentially, food waste.
There was also a small customer service moment at checkout. I requested two boxes for the four desserts purchased, as they were going to different locations, and the request was initially declined before being accommodated.
I understand it was a busy day, but I did notice several staff members not actively assisting with food preparation, packaging, or customer service. I’m sharing this feedback respectfully, as I genuinely enjoy Poppy’s and hope it helps support consistency and quality moving forward.

The lox sandwich was fine, but underwhelming. The red onion and cream cheese were barely noticeable, and there was nothing particularly special to justify the price. I deducted stars due to cleanliness issues. The trash bins, sugar and utensil area, and counter were all visibly dirty, which raised concerns about overall hygiene. The receipt attached to my sandwich bag was also smeared with grease and sauce.

Recently stopped by 25 minutes before they closed. Before we could greet the employee at the till, they let us know they were closed already, and didn’t offer any further explanation as to why they closed 25 minutes early. The owner was next to them and decided to remain silent during the interaction. I double checked their hours in case I made a mistake, but their signs all display 5 as their closing time. I would understand closing 5 minutes early, but 25 minutes early is disappointing.
Unfortunate service from a local shop that was once a destination, but in recent months service and overall quality control has declined.
