I really like their bagels. I am not a fan of their coffee though. I had their latte with hazelnut syrup and oat milk.

We ordered the Kyrie and the Poppy. Flavour wise, the taste is great. However, their signature Poppy is $15 and supposed to be a smoked meat sandwich (we can all picture that meat piled a mile high), but it was very underwelming and disappointing with only 2 pieces of folded smoked meat.

Picture this - you walk down a quaint street with colorful buildings looking for a place to study, when you are enticed by the smell of freshly baked Montreal style bagels. You walk into the bakery and are warmly greeted by the owner's mother who serves you a fresh bagel while telling you the story of how her son founded the picturesque bagel shop. Heavenly, right? Poppy's Bagel & Bakery (35 King St. N. Waterloo, ON N2J 2W9) gave me a little slice of this heaven the last time I visited and I could not be more thankful!Hoping to try their signature item, I ordered the everything bagel with jalepeño cream cheese. The bagel itself was a masterpiece - freshly baked, with a crust that offered a satisfying crunch while its interior remained delightfully soft and chewy. The "everything" seasoning sprinkled generously on the bagel's surface provided an exciting medley of flavors and textures, making each bite unique. The real star though, was the jalepeño cream cheese. With a perfect balance between creamy and spicy, this spread was a zesty, smooth concoction with visible bits of jalapeno adding both texture and bursts of heat. The cream cheese had just the right amount of kick, enhancing the overall flavor profile of the bagel without overpowering it.Despite being on the pricier end, the visit to Poppy's Bagel was truly worth it - not only will you get a great bagel and coffee, but you will also get to finish your work in a cute, cozy location with a view of Waterloo's prettiest street. Highly recommended! To hear more about this review, follow us @eatinontario on Instagram, TikTok, & Facebook. ✨??

We have a Poppy's addiction! The bagels are delicious, the portions are very generous and the staff are friendly. In a city that's a bit of a Bermuda Triangle for good food, this place is a godsend! Truly, when we take a bite of these bagels, we almost cry tears of joy. Not only are they absolutely delicious, but they are obviously made with love. Thank you to the owners who put their heart and soul into making food we can actually love! Also worth noting is that the bagels and toppings are 100% consistent, no matter what day or time we go, and that is rare. For anyone who thinks these bagels are overpriced, please first consider the probably astronomical rent charged to be in a place YOU love. Then consider, on top of high food prices, the labour costs of running a business like this. Think about the cost of your bagel vs the hourly cost of all the people you see working there on a busy Saturday, and also appreciate that Poppy's is open early and also for late nights so you can get your fix :) If anything, prices are very reasonable when I consider the overhead this business has.We appreciate the fact that despite all this, the owners take pride in what they serve, and don't skimp or cut corners. Take the Hot Lox: anywhere else you can find these outside of NYC, you get one sad little piece of salmon. Here your bagel is stuffed so full it's a challenge to take a bite! To the owners: we appreciate you and the hard work and passion you put into making food that truly brings joy! The level of care you put into your business is rare these days. Thank you!

DO NOT SHOP HERE staff is condescending, rude, uninformed and the employees spread false advertising not to mention the prices are ridiculous for a piece of bread. This shop shouldnt exist and next time i get mistreated you will for sure hear about it on my tiktok account with over 100k followers. I urge you to reconsider your values as a company and human beings.

10/10 all around. Got an absolutely scrumptious bagel with some killer herb & garlic schmear, didnt wait for very long at all, and they were playing half•alive so the atmosphere's an automatic 10/10Update: Still a 10/10. I come here about once a month because I come to Uptown for Therapy, and their bagels help me get through it. Whether it be the bagel I had prior to therapy or the promise of a bagel after therapy.

We went for a quick lunch, and the place was quite busy, with a table opening up a few minutes after we ordered. The interior was cute but cramped with a dense array of tables. We got the poppy and the kyrie, which were both delicious. However, I didn't think the bagels themselves were particularly special. One sandwich was not enough for a meal for me, and the price was a little high imo.We also got half a dozen bagels to go, but they ran out of everything bagels. The service was also a bit slow because sometimes there isn't anyone at the front to take orders, and the person taking orders had to check the back for the stock of each type of bagel.Overall, we enjoyed the sandwiches and would return for a small meal.
