Loved this place for a quick bite. Great fish and chips. Real fresh-cut fries. Gyros were unusual for a burger joint but a reflection of the Greek heritage of the former owners. Will miss this place.

Terrible service! We have been customers since the 70s and it has changed for the worse! We thought this would be great for a birthday treat. The staff argued with me that a hamburger bun IS a Kaiser bun! It is not! The man showed me the bag which literally said “hamburger buns”. The young cashier then said things change. Thank you for the unsolicited life advice. Do not waste your time or money here!

Took the bus from Cambridge to try this place and was not impressed at all. Felt very rushed and the person who owns it was not inviting at all. I actually felt belittled. Won't be returning.

If you were born and raised here, Sonny’s has been a part of your life for sure. It’s a landmark for many decades… But sadly, it’s gone down hill BIGTIME. First of all, the little blonde woman there is SUPER RUDE and has no business working with the public if she hates people which I think she does. The other staff are no Ray of sunshine either tbh..now the food… the burgers taste cheap and kinda funky now… def not how they used to be … fries are decent and the gravy too but when my husband asked for extra tarter sauce (on a last ditch effort visit)… the blonde basically scolded him“I CAN ONLY GIVE YOU TWO!!!” Why the attitude?So basically our days of Sonny’s are over. I’m sure the original owners (if they are alive) would be spinning In their graves .. such a shame. I wish it never changed but it did, and not for the better ?

staff were incredibly rude, and didn't wear gloves while preparing the food. not once did any of the employees wash their hands after touching the cash register, and didn't wash their hands in between orders after putting the toppings on my burgers. the food was also very dry and the burgers were frozen. extremely disappointing and i would not recommend

We were really disappointed with our last visit to Sonny's! We haven't been for over a year. Their burgers are not the same! They are just a frozen boxed patty. Sonny's is like an institution in Waterloo. They've been around forever and you could always count on a great handmade burger. Not anymore! Cutting corners really isn't worth it! We will not return! So sad!?

Take-out only, as they have no seating area.Small or large, they do an excellent job piling it on really tall!If you are like my friend and prefer Crispy fries, they mostly come out that way.If you are like me and prefer soft fries, order the fish n chips and the fish on top of the fries makes them perfectly soft and are the most wonderful fries I've ever HAD.WARNING, if you prefer to have fish n chips with your fries on the crispy side, make sure to ask that they package the fish separately or else the steam from the fish WILL soften your fries and make them delightfully limp, which is my preference but not everyone's.They also do an identical Beyond Meat burger (exactly like at A&W, only 50 cents cheaper).The special fries sauce they have is pretty good. I just wish they didn't charge for extra mayonnaise. Makes them seem kinda stingy.
The bacon cheeseburger was great. The portions generous. The poutine could have used a layer of cheese curds and gravy part way through. Most of the fries were ain and dry. But still tasty!

Food is terrible, worst customer service I've ever seen in my existence. Refused to compensate for their mistakes. Called us liars and kicked us out of the store. None of the employees wear gloves or hairnets... or even wash their hands between dealing with money and food. This place used to be a GEM and now its a dump. New owners have ruined it and obviously don't care about their customers. Just remember without us, you have no pay cheque. This is what we get for trying to support local. Suggestion, get a new cashier, as she drives away customers instead of welcoming them. So rude and disrespectful. Probably one of those situations where she knows the owner and that's how she still has this job.

Fantastic burger joint, quick, tasty, nothing too fancy. Very friendly and nice owner/worker Only tried the burger and hot dog, which were awesome. Can't go wrong. Surpassed my expectations.
