Good location but no parking nearby

Came here a few times, always have a bad experience. First, drinks are never made well. Never filled to the top, and when it’s a customized order, there is always something wrong. Second, bad customer service. Made me wait when they clearly saw me and continued chatting with their coworkers. It used to be good when it first opened up, but kept on getting worse. Don’t come to this location.

I had a horrible experience at this Starbucks around February of this year. I was given what I would say is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life by one of the workers at this starbucks. I believe her name was cal and she had red hair, bangs, and was one of the most awful people Ive ever had serve me. She was disrespectful, rude, and discriminated against me for the colour of my skin. Not only did she provide me with a horrible customer experience but she also messed up my order after making me wait for a ridiculous amount of time (all while serving other customers) and then refused to fix it. I was extremely upset and honestly my whole day was ruined. I usually love starbucks but I will not be returning to this location ever again because of this horrible service and this awful experience. Management is ridiculous for hiring someone with such little class and so much entitlement, disrespect, and lack of customer service skills. I hope that little racist girl gets what’s coming to her as that experience left me shaken and more angry than you can imagine. I really do not recommend going here, at least choose a different location with staff who is more competent than this.

This is the first Starbucks in Waterloo I've been to that isn't run-down. It's very clean, bright, and well taken care of. The staff are very pleasant and courteous. Reminds me of Starbucks you find around the world. I found out that it is privately owned which goes to show what a business should be like. Although an hour walk from my home, it will be my go-to Starbucks on my long walks. Bravo Zulu!

Our Barista Johanna was absolutely fantastic, the best recommendations and the most positive and cheerful attitude. She knew exactly what we should try based on the vague criteria we gave her, and suggested further modifications for sweetness preferences. I’ve never felt so welcome in a Starbucks, 11/10 please give her a raise.

As a busy UW student, Starbucks is truly indispensable. I often grab drinks and breakfast from this location, and even though I’m usually rushing to take them to-go, they’re still always pretty good. If I had more time, I’d love to sit and enjoy the atmosphere here, as it’s really quite nice.

For anyone considering stopping by, let me reassure you: this is the perfect place to unwind, catch up with friends, or even get some work done. The seating is comfortable, the ambiance is cozy, and the team here goes out of their way to ensure every customer feels welcome and valued.
I noticed a few negative comments that don’t align with my experiences, so I want to share the truth about this incredible spot:
“The music is turned on so loudly”—This couldn’t be further from the truth! As someone who frequently studies here, I can confirm that the volume is just right. It creates a relaxing background without being distracting.

“No meal items”—There’s a wide variety of menu options available, including snacks and light meals. The menu is conveniently displayed at the counter, making it easy to find something you’ll enjoy.

“The staff are rude and slow”—This is absolutely untrue. I’ve had countless personal interactions with the staff, and they are some of the friendliest, most hardworking people I’ve met. They create such a homely and inviting atmosphere that it feels like a second home.

Around 3:48pm ordered a Mobile drink. I was already waiting in the store but wanted to use my promo. The store was empty when I had ordered but the staff took 40 minutes to make my drink. After 20 mins I had come up to the counter to ask about drink drink and all they had said was “ohhh”. The staff was very rude. After 40 minutes I finally got my drink and had complained to the staff about how long it took. I just watched people coming in to order and receiving their drink before mine. The staff just said “oh we were making the other drinks- we take the order then make the drinks” so I asked them about mine because I ordered first and that don’t they make the drinks in order? All they said was “well me just made the other drinks first” they had also said “Well if you’re complaining that much why dont you work here instead”. Unreal. Very rude staff and very slow. Shouldn’t have to wait 40 minutes for a drink that I ordered in advance.
