We tried Appam and beef and it was delicious.
My experience with this place they definitely have to improve the meat quantity which is very low for the price. Even the biriyani quantity is low compared with other places. In short the quantity of meat definitely needs improvement if they want to stay in the market !
Went there a couple of times very good atmosphere very nice food. taste is consistent best Kerala restaurant in KWC region
I am a regular to grand Malabar considering they have very compact menu and not confusing with a lot of items. Just the authentic dishes in the menu which has some nostalgic value, the food is absolutely yum, only if the service can be a little more quick for dine in customer it would be great, as I understand there is a lot of take out orders on the go and it gets busy, in which small nuances like services to dine in customers go a miss, otherwise it’s been a great experience in having almost all the dishes tried at the restaurant.
Best Indian food I have had in Canada
It was a gift for my friends and family who are Peruvians. They absolutely loved the food! Thank you so much, everyone — you truly made the day special.
Probably the best Malabar restaurant I’ve tried in Canada. I drove all the way from Mississauga to have their biryani and they did not disappoint. To the owner - kudos for running this venture.

Good food quality and service.
We recently visited Grand Malabar in Waterloo and tried their Chicken Biryani Combo (x2), one regular Chicken Biryani, and a Mango Mojito. The Chicken Biryani Combo stands out – generous portions, flavorful rice, and the highlight was the extra chicken fry pieces that added an extra punch of taste. Honestly, this is one of the best chicken biryanis I've had in the GTA, and I’d go so far as to say it's the best biryani spot in Ontario right now.
The restaurant also has private cubicle-style seating, which is a great touch if you want a bit more privacy while dining.
The only small drawback was the pickle served with the biryani – it was slightly frozen and didn’t quite match the high quality of the rest of the meal.
Verdict: Must-visit for biryani lovers. Flavor-packed, good portions, great ambiance. Just fix that pickle!
Not satisfied!
I am living in Kitchener. Though we have a lot of restaurants in Kitchener, my always go-to spot is Grand Malabar, Waterloo. The atmosphere, service and food are always outstanding. Go try it and enjoy!!!
Aleppy Chicken Curry and Beef Roast are my favourites.
Food is very tasty and the service is very good. Alleppey chicken curry is a must try.
