This place has one of the best croissants I’ve ever had! The servers were great, allowing me to take my time as I’m a bit indecisive haha. The smoked salmon bagel we had was also delicious. I love the homey feel of the decor and that the pieces seem to be intentionally selected! A sweet little gem in Whitby.
Belle Vie Cafe & Bakery has some of the best baking we've had.
Love that they moved in where Nice Bistro had made a taste of French in our Whitby so popular. (We miss Manon & Bernard)
So this is the 1st place I thought of when our 36th wedding anniversary came along, and my wife said, "Bring home a nice treat for our breakfast".
I stopped in at 7:30 to secure two of our favorites, the Cherry Danish, along with the rum soaked Almond Croissant, and I let them know of our special occasion.
I'm glad to have stopped in at opening and asked them to hold the delectable treats, which I would get on the way home later in the morning. (They often run out early)
I hadn't noticed the note on the box until home. "Here's to 36 more!" Also, there was a little extra treat in the box...
What a lovely gesture from such nice folks who made our very special day all the better!
Belle Vie has outstanding baking for sure. Those small quiches are everything.
I highly recommend Belle Vie Cafe & Bakery in downtown Whitby.

Nice place, good bakery. Some baked good are too sugary though. And the service is very slow. Management needs to train their staff better. Oftentimes there are 2 people working behind the counter and one is standing doing nothing, while the other is slow and looks lost, like "should I take the order or make coffee or report to kitchen".

Everything we tried was amazing. They had all different kinds of cakes, pastries and quiches. A lot was sold out, which is a good sign! The sandwiches looked great but we didn’t try. Highly recommend, my whole family loved it! The owner was also extremely generous and nice, even threw in an extra pastry because it was near closing time.

I picked up a quiche and some sandwiches to enjoy on Christmas Day.
The quiche is beyond delicious! The caramelized onion & bacon quiche is flakey, creamy and spectacular.
We also had the turkey, Brie & green apple sandwich and the ham & cheese sandwich. Honestly a couple of the best sandwiches we’ve ever had - extremely fresh, generously sized and very tasty! I highly recommend this location - everything we’ve had from here is always of the highest quality and very delicious.

My love affair with this ‘once little gem’ - has unfortunately lost its spark.
The delicious baked goods only take you so far, and then the underwhelming customer service (asides from the lovely South African lady) and weak lunch menu has ended the romance.
The quiche and other lunch items are warmed in the microwave with no garnish in sight.
The potential is breathtaking - however for now, I’m left feeling “the owners/staff are satisfied with mediocre”….
Vary fresh food and cappuccino was good ham and cheese croissant .. ham, mushroom cheese and quiche

Lovely place with delicious food and sweets. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Had a quiche and a chocolate croissant. Wonderful!
Update December 2024-we’ve been here a few times over a few months and the staff is different then the first time we came in, this ‘new’ staff are lacking in interest. They serve you and are ok with you going to the counter, but you are expected to remove your dirty dishes but they NEVER WIPE THE TABLES. Since the dirty dishes would normally indicate what tables need attention, they have no idea and I’m guessing, they don’t care.

We had a take out order of quiche with carmelized onions, swiss cheese and bacon. The quiche was not only delicious but very appealing to the eye. We will order from Belle Vie again.
Parking: #Public lot across the street.

Everything is amazing! All made in house. Staff is friendly, helpful but slow. Just make sure you have a minute to wait. Even when it's empty.

We had the chocolate chip cookie and the almond croissants, both delicious pastries.

Hi, I recently purchased six fruit tarts from your shop, and I am very disappointed with the quality. The fruit did not seem fresh and appeared damaged, and the cream tasted off as well. Given the high price I paid, I expected a much better product. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I am truly dissatisfied with the experience

No visible prices on the menu (bar a few items) so we left. I didn't feel like standing in line and asking the cashier the price of everything.
