He went to the grocery store, went back...nothing. 910, still no food. No explanation, nothing. 915, food. Again, no explanation, nothing. I called in, very irrate and the person on the phone claimed to understand my frustration but still stuck with they didn't know what happened. 45 mins for a SOUP and HALF A FRIED CHICKEN. 45 mins!!!! The person that brought the food out, just said sorry with no explanation. My husband asked, but according to the person on the phone with me..she didn't hear him. He did ask. The staff at this restaurant have no respect for customers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I usually go on my lunch break every day. Best bang for your money. Great atmosphere. Clean restaurant. Great tasting food. Authentic Guyanese Chinese cuisine. Also have alcohol and very cozy too. Dine in or take out. I love that the food isn't oily like most restaurants now days. Extremely generous amount of food for the money. Well worth it. A must try. Will recommend them if you're looking for great food and service and wonderful staff to discuss your food options.

The food was so good! Nicely spicy. Great taste! The fried rice had so many extra ingredients. Jerk chicken was plentiful. We ended up getting so much food that we had it again for a quick dinner the next day. Watch out for the tiny container of spicy sauce they give you...

WARNING: EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH SERVICE AND FOOD. Cantonese Chow Mein was hard as a rock and dry. Totally overcooked. It also smelt very fishy. Spoke to store associate, she was rude and unaccomodating. Telling me to send a picture to the cook. But Could not replace or refund. Horrible service would NOT recommend.

I recently went to Calypso Queen in Whitby for lunch with a friend. They specialize in Guyanese style Chinese food. Between the two of us, we ordered much more than we could eat, just to try the food. We had Beef with Broccoli, Singapore Noodles, Roast Duck, and Ginger Green Onion Chicken. Both the beef and chicken dishes were really good. The noodle dish could have used a touch more curry for our liking but it still tasted good. The duck was obviously reheated. The flavour was decent but the texture was a little off. Overall, the food at this place was pretty good. So were the prices and service. We'll be back! PS - They have some great weekday lunch specials for only $8.99 each, including rice.

So much to unpack with this restaurant, but I will start with calling to make our order. We called around 9:50 PM (they close at 10:30 PM). We ordered our food, and over a certain amount before tax, they give you free pepper shrimp (as advertised) so we ordered: special chicken fried rice, calypso fried rice, general Tao, chili chicken and chicken wings, with a free order of pepper shrimp. They then stated they don’t do pepper shrimp anymore, only free wings. So we said we would order the pepper shrimp, and take off the wings since they’d give that to us for free. There was so much confusion around taking that off our order it was ridiculous. Finally they told us to pick up the food in 40 mins. At this point it was 10’PM and they close at 10:30. I said, don’t you close at 10:30? And they proceed to ask me what time it was. Ridiculous.Going to pick up the food, we decide to shake all that off and have a good attitude and prepare for some good food. When my husband picked up the food and brought it into the car, he checked and they didn’t give us the pepper shrimp. After going inside, they said “ oh the DJ was too loud, we didn’t hear your order”. Another absolute ridiculous reason for their terrible service.Still, coming home, we said okay let’s just enjoy the food. Unpacking the food, everything looked great. We weren’t expecting the calypso fried rice to have everything inside of it that it had. The menu had no description, but there’s chicken, beef, shrimp, and imitation crab. We weren’t a fan. It didn’t taste good in our opinion. I’m Guyanese and we have tasted and made our fair share of dishes in Durham and Scarborough.The special chicken fried rice was decent. I’d give it 3/5. The chili chicken and general Tao were absolutely terrible. It is literally ALL BATTER. It was so so terrible. Even the fried chicken is all batter. There’s barely any meat. If you’re buying meat dishes, understand you are paying for batter. You aren’t paying for the meat.The pictures I attached are after fishing through my food to find the meat. I can’t eat all that soggy batter knowing there’s no meat inside of it. I wouldn’t eat there again. Service was horrible and the food couldn’t even make up for it.Terrible terrible terrible.mGoing through reviews, they have also insulted other customers leaving reviews. It’s terrible service and everything in between.You’re much better off going to Scarborough Or Zen Caribbean, where the portions may not be huge but the food is tasty and quality.
