Walked in & door bell went off, got to counter no one came out. Wait for a minute started saying hello, no one answered, looked into the kitchen there was a lady back there not sure what she was doing. Called out again and said hello, still no response from lady in the kitchen.
Maybe my voice didn’t travel idk 🤷♂️, perhaps your door bell volume needs to be a little louder even though I had no problem hearing it.
I’ll try agsin, since I have enjoyed food here in the past, hope I get a chance to order?

They overcharged me saying the prices on the board are not relevant and it’s an old menu, every time I try to give this place a chance it always disappoints, should have got the jerk from tahinis lol

This was one of my favourite restaurants until the new management took over a few years ago. I made an order through uber eats and went for pickup at the restaurant at the time it was assigned. The food was NOT ready.
I understand things happen so I waited as the guy told me it would take another ten minutes. I was hungry and annoyed but waited. About 20 minutes later the order was finally ready but was advised that a portion of my order was not yet prepared and that I would have to order it separately and needed to wait another 25-30minutes . I was shocked because it was a part of the original order.I asked him why he did not advise as he saw I had my toddler waiting with me and he was getting tired and agitated due to the wait.
At this point a few more customers came into the store and the worker attempted to make me look like a customer with a problem. He gave the impression that he told me it was busy and that I needed to wait-he did not. I told him that I could not wait that much longer and to cancel the order. He refused.
I had to cancel through uber eats but he knew I would not be refunded due to their policy that I was not aware of. I don’t order out often. The guy is a total jerk. He has a light brown complexion and in his 50s . He is a deceitful person. After contacting uber eats and explaining the situation they deemed it unfair what he did and I was refunded.
In the past they would always have items missing from our delivery order which is why I decided to do a pickup. A few months later I ordered from that store and was met with problems. I learned my lesson and will never order again.
I never leave reviews but felt compelled to. I hope this helps. Stay away from Sunrise restaurant in Whitby unless they get new management.

Unfortunately the low rating is accurate. I ordered jerk chicken rice and peas with oxtail gravy. I felt like I ate white rice with bbq chicken. These guys ain’t authentic.

I chose this restaurant because I was feeling for some caribbean food. So I decided to order a fry chicken and a jerk chicken both with Rice & peas. When I got the food it looked OK, but I noticed the rice looked a bit different. When I started eating, I noticed they had used Basmati Rice to make the rice & peas, which I did not enjoy. I just don't find the flavor and aroma of basmati rice goes well with rice & peas as the basmati flavor over powers the coconut milk used in making rice & peas and in my honest opinion basmati rice does not go well with every dish. Certain meats and flavors does not compliment it well.
I noticed the new tend of few other caribbean rest doing this, and I don't like it. Please use the traditional way of making rice & peas or give customers the option to choose

Hello everyone I had never done this but I have to do it. Please DO NOT Order from this restaurant. I was so excited to order from here thinking the quality would be the same as other sunrise restaurant I had been to in the past but to my surprise this didn’t meet the expectations. I Ordered just simple chicken soup and the liquid in the soup was super thick you could tell it’s from couple days old. The duping were just 2 inside and extremely soggy. The chicken was 1 piece and was bone barely cover in meat. I AM REALLY UPSET!! Don’t waste your money I beg of you this is not worth it. I paid $18.09 on Uber eats. My money was refunded because I had to sent couple picture to uber so I could get my refund. This is 2025 and I can’t believe restaurant like this still serve garbage. I phone the restaurant I spoke to girl in charge her name is CHAN. She told me that’s what the owner gave her when she started earlier to serve customers. You could tell from her voice that she knew it wasn’t good to serve. For her to say that’s what the owner gave her to serve I know right she knew the food wasn’t good to serve she was just following her Boss instructions. I am Waiting for them to give me a call I left my number.

Great experience for breakfast today ordering ackee and saltfish and fried dumpling! Good portion size and friendly customer service with a smile from the new management. I really appreciate the ample seating for dining in as some other locations do not have this.
