One of the best restaurants in Durham, incredible food, charming atmosphere (the wife finds it romantic we go there for date night sometimes).
The pizza is great made lovingly with excellent ingredients. Also I must say, they have an app that is essentially a truffle cheese dip... Perhaps the best app I have ever had. To die for I'll order it every time for now on. Love the Tuscan Wolf will be back.

Ever since Tuscan Wolf switched to new management, the entire experience has gone downhill. We used to be regular customers and absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. But the changes have been so noticeable that we stopped dining in altogether. Even a couple of the waitresses quietly mentioned they were likely going to look for new jobs because everyone has felt how different (and poorly run) things have become.
The first time we tried to eat in after the change they made about 7 couples (2 people) sit and wait because there was only tables of four. We all sat around while the restaurant sat empty and then laughed and started to pair off in fours so they’d finally sit us. Marco (owner) came in apologized and was upset they had done this. He apologized we had a great chat and decided to give it another shot.
Today, was that day.We decided to give it another chance with takeout, thinking if the food was still good, maybe it was worth sticking with. Unfortunately, today was the final straw.
Our pizza had zero truffle oil or truffle paste, which has always been the signature flavour. When I called, the manager asked me to take a photo and send it to him for proof. I have never in my life been asked to photograph my food to “prove” it was made wrong. I told him I’d just bring it back tomorrow so they could see it themselves.
On top of that, I specifically asked for no Gorgonzola, on my covaccino and it came with it overpowering and honestly gross. His response? That the kitchen said they didn’t put any on, so therefore they didn’t. Completely dismissive.
At this point, I’m done. The quality, service, and attitude have changed so much under the new management that it’s just not worth going back. Tuscan Wolf used to be amazing now it’s barely recognizable. Which is a shame Marco is a great guy and started an amazing pizza place.
UPDATE: Since i cannot reply to your comment i will update mine: I absolutely did not yell at your staff in any way, in fact when the manger asked me to text him i laughed, my husband was yelling in the background as it was on speaker to try and comment, but he was too far away from the phone so i let him know i can handle it. I laughed so hard and told the manager that is by far the most insane reply I've ever heard. No one spoke rudely to your staff at all. There was no truffle on the pizza, we've ordered it a million times - no video will change that. If they put one small dab on it to say they did, sure - however - you couldn't taste it at all. That's not the standard we've been used to. That's a fact! When i called to tell them this - you can clearly tell they've been defending themselves a lot lately, and it's not your customers who've been there for years! It's the people who you let franchise and take over running the place. I can't tell you how many people go around now saying to not go there anymore.... we won't be back along with many others. When you get truffle oil and paste on a pizza it's very strong, you couldn't taste any on it, whether you tried to put some on or not - it was disappointing, as per the trend lately. The other pizza just tasted like blue cheese and was gross. Our receipts had the additions on them. I won't be pulling my review down as its honest and your reply is very disappointing - the more you keep finding yourself defending - the more you should look within and who you passed management over to. It's a shame, this was the best place before. Our first experience was horrible but we believed in the food we took time and came back to try again. There is zero ownership in the constant disappointments here and therefore there's no hope, when this place goes out of business - no one will be surprised. You should take the negative reviews as people trying to let you know what to fix to bring it back to what it was and not a place for you to take your frustrations out on your

I had such a lovely time! The items were delicious and the beautiful atmosphere, it was super cozy! The amount of pizzas are crazy! So many options and different combinations that I have never heard of before! I cant wait to come back and try their other decisions! Definitely recommend coming earlier if you are able to because it sure gets busy later in the day!

Visited Tuscan Wolf Pizzeria for dinner last night and had a great experience! The ambience was warm, cozy, and perfect for a relaxed evening out.
We ordered the Pollo Calzone, Italian Salad, Pesto Basil Penne, and San Marino Pizza, along with beer and tiramisu for dessert.
• Pollo Calzone – Absolutely loved it! Perfectly baked with delicious filling.
• Pesto Basil Penne – So flavourful and creamy; definitely one of my favourites of the night.
• Italian Salad – Fresh and crisp, though a bit too oily for my taste.
• San Marino Pizza – Tasty and satisfying.
• Beer & Tiramisu – Great combo to wrap up the meal; the tiramisu was especially delightful.
Customer service was top-notch — our server made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal, which made the experience even better.

I have been a regular at this restaurant and always enjoy the food. But today was something else, I was there without reservations and had the name in the waiting list. They told me it would be an hour and half but I didn’t mind. I never received a call until the first hour and out of curiosity I called to ask about it and they said it will be another hour so. This was still fine until the person from the other side was very rude in her response. If you can accommodate people without reservations then please don’t have a waiting list of you if you cannot accommodate them. The final outcome was I never got a call. I stayed in the area for almost couple hours and then left. Nothing for the food which is always fabulous always that I have been there for almost 3 years now.

I dined with a friend recently and although the food was top tier and delicious the service could use some work. Our drinks remained empty displayed at the end of the table for about 10-15 mins. I noticed the manager looking over a few times yet neither her or the other server came over. I had to flag down service to receive another drink. Not once were we asked how our meal was and we were not checked in on at all. Upon entering and leaving the staff were friendly but the in-between was lacking engagement. It was an early Monday evening with very few busy tables so I was left feeling disappointed based on the lack of service. I would still return for the food but perhaps for takeout instead.

The food was good, but my complaint is with the fact they don't cut your pizza into slices, and refuse to when I asked! They give you a crappy little serrated steak knife to cut it yourself. In doing so the toppings and cheese are coming off the pizza and you end up with pizza sauce and goo all over your hands putting it back together. Total PITA and an awful experience eating it. I don't care if they don't cut them in Italy. I'm a paying customer, and if I want it sliced, then slice it.
I will never go back.

Follow-up (in response to the owner’s reply)
Thank you for your reply, Marco. I do appreciate you taking the time to respond — though it’s disappointing that the focus seems more on challenging my feedback than addressing the actual issue that occurred.
You mentioned it would’ve been nice if I had reached out privately instead of posting a review. Fair enough — though it also would’ve been nice if your response had shown some accountability for what happened. Ironically, your reply here perfectly illustrates the exact issue I experienced with your customer service: rather than listening and showing understanding, the instinct is to get defensive and argumentative toward the customer.
For clarity, I gave 5 stars for food because it’s consistently excellent, and 1 star for service based solely on this particular interaction — not the food itself. My review was detailed, fair, and offered specific feedback that could have been taken as an opportunity to improve.
Honest reviews help both customers and businesses grow, and a professional, accountable response often speaks louder than any rating. That said, no need to worry — I won’t be returning, but I do wish your team well moving forward.

Its your Nonnas cooking, first bite and you are transported into Italy ...your senses are teased with the smell of the pizza being cooked and the taste buds are tantalized with home style cooking. Its family run and extensively supported by new folks! Great energy! Its your ideal spot for a family meal, date night or anything more. They also have seatibg upstairs for larger groups.
Given the food quality n experience, I am sure there are wait times! We just got lucky
The crust is light and the amount of cheese is just right! Its not just a slice of Pizza its a slice of Italy! Emotion in action
The decor is bful and you havd the red- white check table linens.
