Al Fogolar offers classic southern Italian cuisine, including the generosity. I think it hits home as a higher mid-range restaurant: great for socializing, good service, and normal-to-decent pricing. It could use a little improvement in keeping the portions and flavours balanced. It would be approaching 5 stars for the price point if it focused on these two aspects of the customer experience.

Fantastic food and service. The decor is old school and the atmosphere is calm. Great for intimate dinners. They wont rush you out the door so it worked perfect for a 4 hour business dinner.

Had multiple events here as a child. My great uncle was the President for years, and also got married here. Wonderful food and amazing people.
Dropped in for lunch with a colleague from Italy. Thought this would be a nice change from their other experiences in Toronto. The service was good. We had the Salmon and the Baccala. The Baccala (Stewed salted Cod Fish)was very good and just salty enough. paired with very nicely grilled polenta and asparagus. The Salmon was well cooked with a bed of vegetables. Top this off with an espresso and of course traditional Venetian 'crostoli" that they have served here for as long as I can remember. FYI, The menus on the website has the staples but they add/revise the food lineup so there are other options when you go there. I've had their 'Fritto Misto' (battered seafood) and its some of the best I've had. They also have fixed price familty nights. Return here?, whenever I can, never been disappointed.
