Hosted a birthday dinner here 13 people. Owner was kind and appreciative over the phone when we booked reservations. Food was 10/10, ordered several appetizers including pizza, calamari, salads, polenta fries, etc. Mains were all excellent- cod, pastas, steak, etc. The staff went over and above to ensure our guests had a good time. I've been here a handful of times and my most recent visit was a few weeks ago. I somehow always forget to take a photo of the "Straccetti di Papá" because we share and devour this before having our mains. These are mini baked dough balls with tomato, arugula, parmigiano and fior di latte...DIVINE! With my family of 4 on this visit we all had amazing mains. The ribeye special and lamb chops were so good. The service was above and beyond and John catered to all our needs. He was pleasant, personable and didn't rush us as many restaurants do. The owner Antonio came over to check in on our evening and brought us some homemade desserts that were out of this world! Fresh and truly tasted like an authentic Italian dessert my Nonna would make back in Foggia, Italy. Nothing frozen here. It was another wonderful experience and I definitely recommend it and will be back again!!

One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to. I’ve been to many of the top Italian restaurants in places like NYC, Boston and Providence, and Osteria Gente is right up there with the best of the best.I had their Pugliese pizza as an appetizer and Octopus Linguini as my main, and all I can say is they were both absolutely stellar. The crust on the pizza was perfection and had great flavours going on. And the Octopus Linguini was both one of the most delicious and unique pasta dishes I’ve ever tried. Cooked to perfect al dente, nice heat from the jalapeños and every bite was just singing with flavours. I honestly can’t find the words for it; it really was sublime. In my top 3 of best pasta dishes I’ve ever tried. That’s high praise coming from me.My friend also had Penne Alla Vodka and the Calabrese pizza, both of which I also got to try. The Penne was textbook perfect, absolutely the best tasting, most authentic Penne Alla Vodka I’ve ever tried and the Calabrese pizza was also fantastic. We capped off our dinner with their house made Tiramisu and it was excellent.The prices at Osteria Gente are a little higher than you would find at most Italian restaurants, but given the high quality and flavour of the food, I would say it’s well justified. It’s really hard to find Italian food of this caliber, so hats off to the chefs. Simply some of the finest Italian you’ll eat anywhere. The service and ambience were also great, and it would make for a fantastic date spot.I definitely look forward to going there again soon. Bravissimo!
Don't go! Food was expensive and below par! My "Osteria gente" salad game with 3 super small slices of pear, arugula that was wilted- not fresh and had hardly any dressing! Mushroom risotto was tasteless and had Parmesan crisps that tasted fowl! Steak was over seasoned twice with salt and oily French fries! And the service...let's just say the waiter had an attitude about him! So for a restaurant that has changed names and decor numerous of times...i should have known better but to stay away! Woodbridge has way better options!

I have been to this place twice. Both times the food sat badly with myself and my guest. The last time we got invited to go we declined. It may have just been our personal bad luck on both occasions. The atmosphere also seems a bit cliquey. Maybe one day we will give it another

I have never experienced a restaurant as poor as this one.1) The servers are all snooty and extremely rude. There is one server, he is older and very tall, and just all around a horrible server. My wife and I went on a Friday evening and he was out server and at about 8:45 pm, you could tell that he had been drinking while working. How absolutely unprofessional is this, and not only that, but the owner seemed very aware of this and didn't do anything about it, which I just find to be disgusting.2) The food is mediocre at best. There are a number of restaurants in Vaughan such as Nove, L'Antipasto, and Funghetto, to name a few, that are ions better and deserve their accolades. Osteria Gente however, definitely does not.3) This restaurant is run by Italians so they want to keep their culture and authenticism in their food, I get it. But it is extremely evident when customers who are not regulars, or customers who are of a different ethnicity come in to the restaurant, the wait staff, and the owner all look down on them and have this condescending note about serving and hosting them.All in all, I will never come back to this restaurant. I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant after hearing from friends and family that this place was good, it did not meet my expectations. I really do not understand the hype around this place and urge anyone that is wanting to come into this place, to not, and to go somewhere where they will be welcomed no matter their ethnicity and where they will actually enjoy themselves.ThanksDS
