Went here today for the first time after they renovated and not disappointed. They are a little more expensive then other Portuguese Food places but it’s worth every penny. The food is fresh, service is good(even when busy) and food is tasty. I got a large rice, 2 pieces of fish and 2 tarts for $38. Food was filling and the tarts tasted homemade and fresh. I would recommend! Way better than the place across the street. You have to try!

We frequent the Vaughan location all the time when we are in the area. The food is always fresh and the place busy all the time. When we moved to the city a few years ago we were excited to try the Toronto location but the same level of quality just wasn’t there. Fast forward to today after their reopening and they are better than ever!Keep in mind this is good food. Not fast food. A fresh off the grill BBQ chicken will take about 20 minutes so do yourself a favour and call in advance. You won’t regret it.

They're back!!! and better than ever - just opened today. Everything's fresh and clean, some long time faces, some new faces - all very friendly. Grilled chicken and garlic rapini super delicious. Lots of food options. So happy to have these guys open again, I really missed them : )

Forgot to review before they closed, they were good years ago but went downhill. Can agree with the others, who found the service

The customer service was bad. The guy threw my change down. Really distespectful staff. I would never go back even if it did open.

Yes, yes yes. This was incredible. You could taste the grill on the chicken, portion was crazy generous. Highly recommend grabbing some of the peri Peri, it's delicious. The wee ball.potato things were so lit. Massive portion and perfectly cooked. The whole thing was a delight. I ordered from uber eats and was piping hot and delicious. Greta job guys, this rocked.

They had a fire in the spring, and last time I went, it was still closed. They don't have any mention of the closure online, and the phone line just gives you a busy signal. When it was operational, very good chicken and dobrada -- it's a shame that they can't get it back up, and that they don't update their website info and put a message on their phone line.

The best Portuguese food I’ve had in the city. Hoping they open back up again soon..

ITS CLOSED - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Very Unprofessional! I came all the way from Stouffville because the food is supposedly great, only to see a sign that it's closed for construction!! How irritating because the website is still showing open until 9pm and the phone number has no voicemail. Hopefully, they’re shut down for good!

Went here a ton of times in the past to order takeout for my family and other people that were not in line—let alone in the building got to be served before I did. So service was not good. The folks cooking also were rude and I found the chicken to be extremely dry last time I went.

Like other reviewers have said: if you are not Portuguese DO NOT GO HERE, you mine as well be invisible. I've been here a few times over the years and it's the same routine every time, nobody behind the counter will even give you the time of day if you can't speak Portugese. What's frustrating is that all of the staff do speak English, they just have a policy to ignore customers who don't speak Portugese. A competitor caught wind of this policy and opened up directly across the street from Costa Verde (the competitor is called Galo Do Sardinha) and Galo seems to have now captured all of the local business. I think Costa Verde is on the verge of closing as this competitor seems to be crushing them. Galo now seems very busy all the time and Costa Verde looks like a ghost town.

Best Portuguese chicken in town. Along with the amazing taste and good sized chicken, they load up the sides (rice and potatoes) that taste just as great. It's been my go to for Portuguese chicken for the last 20+ years.

The chicken is very good, as is the rice and potatoes. This is a busy place so there can be a wait sometimes but it is well worth it. Personally, the bbq chicken is the tastier option compared to the rotisserie chicken but that is personal preference.
