My boyfriend and I usually love the food here, but we recently tried the cakes for the first time, and we were pretty disappointed. We ordered more than one flavor, but sadly, they all tasted the same: overwhelmingly sweet, without any real flavor or complexity. It was as if they were just sugar in cake form, which made them difficult to enjoy.
Honestly, they were so sweet that one slice felt like it could send you into a sugar rush! It’s surprising because we’ve had great experiences with other items at the shop, but the cakes really missed the mark. I hope there’s a way to improve them, as they have potential!

The nutella doughnut was amazing, but the 2 cakes and "eclair" we got were anything but. The caramel fudge cake tasted like freezer burn, and the black forest was borderline tasteless. As for the "eclair", it wasn't. It was filled with what I guess is a custard, not cream, and was pretty flavourless. The items were shared among 3 people, so it's not just 1 person having "off" taste buds. I may come back for the nutella doughnut, but that's it.

The sweets, cakes, are authentic and well done. There are some grocery items, but mostly, this is a sweet shop and cafe. The Portuguese specials, Tegelado and pastais de nata are very good. Too bad the service was very slow, with an attitude. Not good. The place was too hot, so we asked to open a window: no. The view is ugly parking lot and main street.
I'm not sure this is a go again place.

I'm really disappointed to write this review for a place so near and dear to my heart and my family. A sign of the changing times. I like to treat myself to a tosta mista, an espresso and a pastel de nata when in the neighbourhood. They gave me the most burnt nata, very undercooked on the inside and the cheese in the tosta mista had mould! I'll be going back to my old favourites from here on out. Terrible!
