This used to be my go to place but after 3 attempts to see if I was going crazy I am taking a long break from this place. This place has gone downhill. It’s now a gamble going here. The chicken/pork is either okay, too salty or too dry. The new people at the grill are stingy with the meat and rude. I sadly find that it is not worth going here anymore especially with the extreme price jump and this is coming from someone who used to go here every other week.

This visit legitimately hurt my heart & soul. Any & all hopes of authentic, fresh, genuine Jamaican food were legit, completely & utterly crushed in numerous ways. The jerk chicken was not fresh at all-it tasted ancient (The kind of ancient found in a museum or from history because that is how old the jerk chicken tasted), stale & there was way too much what sadly tried to imitate a barbecue sauce-failed miserably. Jerk chicken that is legitimately Jamaican does not have barbecue sauce. Their barbeque sauce was disgusting to make it worse. The horrific, failed barbecue sauce tasted atrocious as it was exceedingly artificial & tasted similar to a mix of fake, processed liquid smoke & chemicals. The jerk chicken tasted akin to ancient, smelly, unwashed gym shoes & gym socks. Additionally, there were no spices or any other flavours in the jerk chicken besides the terrible, fake, barbecue sauce. The repulsive and revolting barbecue sauce had a smell that was worse than death & roadkill combined. The oxtail sauce was minimal & there was barely any. The rice & peas was exceedingly bland, dull & lacking. The coleslaw was nothing special as it tasted extremely mediocre. I would never ever come back here. It is a complete waste of money and time to come here & it does not live up to the hype at all! Do yourself a huge favour & go to RAP'S instead because it is infinitely better! What a joke & an utterly sad joke pertaining to the food that was served here.

The Jerk pork cutters are horrible workers with horrible attitudes. Especially the chunky fellow with the tight track pants. He grunts instead of speaking and LOADS the box up with bristle and bone and skin. He gets confrontation when you call him out. The old man is even worse. The chicken cutters on the other hand are pleasant and always load you up with extra. Is the pork cutting position at hot pot a family punishment? Because none of them are happly doing it. I'll be back and I'm going to cause a even louder bigger scene ON JAH

The food was very average. The rice was dry, and the chicken had a strange smell that upset my stomach.

Best jerk chicken, and jerk pork (only Friday and Saturday), I've EVER had
That was my original review 5 years ago.
The small size was $7, large was $10.
And the big bearded Rasta man was super friendly and would jam in as much meat as he possibly could into the containers. To the point of not even properly closing. Hehehe
This place was INCREDIBLE, and felt welcoming and appreciative of my patronage.
unfortunately
Time and economics has not been kind. The Big Rasta gentleman passed away, and over the years things have changed. The welcoming ambiance slowly shifted to one of feeling like I'm putting upon the staff by being there. I once tried to order delivery during COVID lock down and the portions received barely covered bottom of the container. And just this night, I visited for the first time in months, and prices are officially $10 for small and $20 for large containers filled to the bottom lip and not a single cm over.
I know we're all in a crunch, and this IS a business. But honestly, I don't feel like it's value for my time to drive there and back, or the price asked for the portion provided.
Not even mentioning the annoyed looks from the staff for simply deigning to order food at their restaurant
Ah well, things change. I will treasure the first few years I spent coming to this place.

The price is great for the small jerk chicken or pork, you can either pick just to get meat or with rice and beans with coleslaw. The area is a little ghetto but the people are nice. They only accept debit and cash
