There are a lot of great restaurants in Ashland worth the steep price of admission, Bar Juliet is not this one of them. This was my second time dining there and is my last.Walking in, the restaurant is a beautiful space fitting of a great dining experience, however, the food and service were lacking. My wife and I ordered the burgers, one temped medium rare and one medium well. Both burgers were served well done and were exceedingly salty.Generally, one of the issues aforementioned issues could have been remedied with a server checking in shortly after the food was dropped, if that had occurred. Instead, we had to interrupt a lively conversation amongst the waitstaff to request a side of ketchup for the fries and were frustrated enough by this point we did not bring up the our dissatisfaction with the food. While this could be considered a minor problem, it is a problem that that could have been resolved or at least addressed if the server simply checked in with us.If the restaurant had been busy, I would have attributed all of this to the restaurant having an off night night, but restaurant wasn't busy and that left us feeling ignored. That feeling of neglect largely stems from watching the staff play on their phones, eat behind the bar while still on shift, and having to wait for a break in their personal conversations to do typical restaurant things like order food and wine.I opted to sleep on writing this review, but woke up still feeling salty. Bar Juliet could be a good restaurant and obviously someone must care about its success, however, that person clearly was not working last night

The worst burger I’ve ever eaten, please use quality ingredients, also the chicken is so bland. I know lots of people like it, but please season that chicken.

Wildly disappointing and absurd experience at Bar Juillet. Was recently kicked out of this restaurant during one of their brunch events for reasons I can only attribute were to this owners inflated, yet fragile ego. Bar Juillet claims to be "long on food and wine, and short on pretension." This owner wouldn't know good food if it slapped her. When I voiced my disappointment over her staffs lack of service and the mediocre preparation of our food, I was greeted with immediate defensiveness and shabby excuses for their nearly absent service including a repeated "this is how we do things here," and "well what do you want me to say? I'm not going to comp your bill." I never asked for a discount and didn't plan on it, but for a $300+ brunch, I felt voicing my concerns, some acknowledgement and perhaps an apology, were in order. If this is "good food," the chicken served in my entree died in vain. The added waffle (for an astounding additional $8) was at best a gourmet, overcooked and dry, Eggo. The owner refused to acknowledge my concerns, let alone take any amount of accountability, and instead humiliated herself by throwing herself in front of her waitstaff and charging the front door as I walked out, making what started as a cordial conversation in the back of the restaurant (and could have remained that way), into a huge scene disrupting not only other guests experiences but also the hired entertainment (the only enjoyable part of this entire experience). To make matters worse, our waiter tried to join our conversation and even began to apologize for his role in my poor service experience--unfortunately, this very reasonable and appreciated interaction was cut short by the owners tantrum. If you enjoy mediocrity and absurdity at high prices, Bar Juliet is for you. If you do not like to be fed crap with a brass fork for $32-choose elsewhere for your next dining experience. 10/10 do not recommend even though my table was told to leave but is "welcome to return another time." This entire experience was wildly bizarre. I have never had such a reaction from a restaurant owner, manager or chef while pleading my concerns.

This is the sister restaurant to the overpriced Hither - a tiny cafe that's tried really hard to pretend it's an elite, pretentiously unbothered cafe serving breakfast entrees like a single egg and 3 asparagus spears over toast for a ridiculous amount; so it's not off track to say the bar Juliet is a hot mess of nothing French except the desire to depart. Where to start? Overpriced tiny drink Sunday brunch? Well okay - but it's all downhill from here.Terrible overworked servers, horrific food (who wrecks chicken and waffles? This place - dirt dry chicken tenders that remind you of cafeteria Sysco and bendy waffling waffles), long wait times and our only consolation was watching the owner throw out an even more horrified and terrible guest. It's was a merde-show. And that's French!

This is THE cocktail bar in Ashland. If you are visiting town and want something a little more upscale and has serious ambiance, then I highly recommend Bar Juillet. Most importantly, the vibe of this spot is FANTASTIC! With the exposed brick, mood lighting, and tasteful decorations, it is a very romantic and trendy date night spot. The cocktails are so delicious as well! Their master bartender is constantly changing up the menu to add unique twists to classic drinks. Their toasted marsh mellow old fashioned is to die for! If you're feeling cheeky, I would recommend ordering the "piggy punch." It changed every week and is served out of a fun pig glass! It is always so cool to see what the drink is each week! Personally, I love just going and sitting at the bar. The space is super lively and you never know who you might run into. The bartenders are so friendly too! Definitely one of my top date night spots!

Hands down my favorite dining experience in Ashland! The atmosphere is the the perfect mix of historic charm with a fresh twist. The food… was mouth watering! We got the rigatoni and fried chicken. Both were dishes I’ll be thinking about until we come back again. Thank you for the perfect dining experience :)

Bar Juillet is one of a kind!!! Wow- absolutely delicious and creative dishes, unique flavors, and top notch service. The brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever had, and the lemon aioli for the fries is heavenly.

Yes the fried chicken is the BEST we've ever had-hands down. I'm not sure how they make this but I desperately need to learn the recipe. A++ and we typically never order chicken!

Ambiance is lovely except when they have live music they need to ensure the amps are turned down sufficient to a place this small. It is often deafening and carrying on a conversation isn't possible. Service is SUPERB! Absolutely superb. As almost everyone else mentioned, their fried chicken is divine, magnificent, unbelievably tender yet with a perfect crispy crunch. Don't miss it! BUT it is served a la carte. If you want anything green with it, you better order a salad or a vegetable they might have on the menu that day. There aren't a lot of choices on the menu. When I was there with friends, I had the Salade Lyonnaise. It was a 3. We shared the chicken, which was a 10. I ordered a Cosmo which arrived looking more like a Kamikaze. Perhaps the bartender forgot to add the cranberry juice. It tasted OK but it wasn't a Cosmo. The band was a perfectly marvelous jazz band that was very talented and they were as much fun to watch as it was to listen to their really great music. Really, really, REALLY talented.

Food, service, and the ambiance all simply incredible! Just wow, from start to finish. We even took a whole other round with us, cause we couldn't decide after 1st bite...but we knew this was a special place so we went for it. So perfectly curated for sharing! Don't neglect the amazing cocktails, especially the "piggy punch", a smokey fun and punchy punch, complete in a piggy cup. So cute and elegant at the same time! We will definitely be back. Trust me foodies...you need to go here! It's even worth the drive from Medford!

I've had great and terrible experiences here. How your food comes out definitely depends who's working in the kitchen. Prices can be extreme for what you're getting, unseasoned fried chicken for almost $30!? Otherwise its pretty good Italian food (but the restaurant has a french name?) And they have easily some of the best pasta in town and its usually priced very fair. But.. I once came to get the morrel pasta, and then when I received the pasta it was normal Safeway mushrooms. It was expensive, and when I brought it up to my server he said he "idk what to tell you" and walked off. I was charged full price. Sometimes anything fried tastes like old burnt oil. I've been a handful of times since open, Josh makes unbelievable cocktails, probably the best in a 200 mile radius, a lot of the staff are great people, worth a visit..
