Big Al’s has a special vibe. From the minute you step foot in the door, you can see from the memorabilia and the menu that this place has been around for a while, and it has its very own personality. Is it upscale? No. It is modern? Also no. But it speaks to who Big Al’s is in the community and what they serve to the people who come here. We live in Iowa, but when come to Ashland, we always pop in for lunch. This time, I had two ground beef tacos which came with refried beans and rice. My husband had a regular burger. Both items were very good, served hot by friendly people and we left full and enjoyed our time there. Again, we’ll be back when we’re in Oregon next year.

Ordered 3 hamburgers and tater tots at Big Al’s. I ordered the food to-go and was disappointed to discover that 2 of the 3 hamburgers were not as ordered and lacked the condiments and fixings but contained large piles of stringy, old tasting onions. The tater tots were cold and all 3 burger patties were charred on the bottom. Expensive, sad meal. 😕

So far everything I've gotten from there did not disappoint, the Grizzly burger reminded me of a burger joint in Cali where i grew up. Easily drive from medford to Ashland for a burger!

The best simple hamburger and fries I’ve had in a very long time. The simplicity and old fashioned vibes are exactly what I was looking for. Banana split was fantastic as well.
I work next door and frequent this restaurant, if not twice a week. Years ago I had an issue but never said anything and felt they deserved a second chance. Today I go order the same thing for lunch as usual, 2 chicken breasts just by themselves and medium strawberry milkshake. For everything including tax is around $19 which I don't mind paying. I place my order and step out to take a call and here she comes with my order and I thought wow that was fast for cooking raw chicken breast to order. That was not the case, the owner(wife) put 2 raw chicken breasts in a togo box and handed it to me. I open it and tell her it's raw she then said I asked for it raw, which I didn't because who eats raw chicken? I'm not trying to die. This will be the last time I step foot into that establishment on the grounds they're going to make someone sick pulling stuff like that!

SMALL AL(the manager) was caught by us customers! He was caught yelling obscenities and belittling his own workers! We heard him yelling and saying such rude and degrading things at his young female worker and it was an absolutely disgusting experience. We told him that he should treat his workers with the respect they deserve! The manager instead hid in his kitchen and yelled at us customers who were telling him that he shouldn’t be disrespectful to his workers AND to us members of the community who have supported this business but NO MORE! Not once did the manager apologize! All he did was yell that he didn’t care- and all while his worker was crying and embarrassed because of his foul and low down behavior! We all tried to make her feel better and she did absolutely nothing to deserve the manager belittling her!! She was so helpful and nice and he treated her like dirt AND in front of everyone!! This is NOT the first time the manager was found treating his workers horribly. The other customers also tried talking to the manager and he just continued to hide behind the counter and all while he continued to yell that he did not care. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS WHICH HAS NO BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY!

I don't think it would be a stretch to say this is probably one of the best burger places in the Rogue Valley. It's a pretty simple setup but the ingredients they use seem really fresh. Bit of a strange decoration theme but that doesn't matter when they serve food this great.
