Went for a big bowl, added fish, and the stars aligned! Really a delicious meal. Fish was lightly breaded and cooked JUST right. Adding fish transformed a ‘good’ bowl in to an AMAZING dish.
Coquina is our favorite restaurant in Ashland, and it is always a special treat to dine there. Our meals were delicious, and the service was impeccable. We're already looking forward to our next visit. This time, I had the wagyu beef steak, medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and was oh-so-tender. Other items ordered by our party of four included a vegan entree, scallops, the green salad with blue cheese, and the not-to-be-missed Brussels sprouts and homemade potato chip appetizer. Yum!
Great dinner, good wines ! A friendly atmosphere Altogether a great experience Will be back !!!
A recent dinner at Coquina was a highlight of our fall visit to Ashland. The service was beyond compare and the entire evening was so pleasurable and unique that I hope others will visit soon to enjoy a similar experience. Beginning with their house made chips and fried broccoli and moving on through an appetizer of fresh crab over a corn custard delicately flavored with an acidic gelled/ sauce; the entree was three perfectly prepared scallops over a corn purée, and a tender duck breast over a fig sauce. The ultimate dessert: a rhubarb/ umeboshi plum tartlette, or the chocolate torte (GF) which my husband chose. The restaurant is located in the Railroad District so it is a bit away from the usual restaurants near the city center, but don’t let this keep you away. Even if you have theatre reservations, you can comfortably enjoy a complete dinner if you reserve a table for close to when they open at 5:30.
Have frequented Coquina numerous times over the past 5 years. Outstanding! Scallops are my favorite. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
We often go to Coquina to celebrate special occasions. This time, we just stopped in because we were craving a small, but delicious, meal. We started with the sprouts and chips appetizer (always a wonderful way to start a meal), and we each ordered a single entree (scallops for me, a special vegan, mushroom-centric dish for my wife). Everything was superb, including the service. This is our favorite restaurant in Ashland. Highly recommended!
Very expensive, but the quality is fantastic
Creative and innovative food. Gnocchi was unbelievable... absolutely perfect ?. This chef is beyond amazing, deserves national recognition for skills on par with Michelin star restaurants. Easily competes with the French Laundry, different but certainly as well balanced and presented and delightful. Kudos.
Fabulous
Awesome gluten free options and delicious flavor combinations. We had the Brussel sprouts for an appetizer , the beet and carrot salad, duck and scallops for dinner. Tarts for dessert when you are gluten free. Wow. Awesome.

I have lived in Ashland a long time. Coquina is one of the best restaurants in town. Great food and service. The only negative (for me, not everybody) is the gloom factor. There is a trend in all restaurants to get rid of light (read WSJ on the issue). Of course in the summer, there is outdoor seating, but in January....bring your own table lamp.
A little pricey but the ambiance, service, and food are all excellent. Was visiting from out of town (Austin, Texas) and look forward to visiting this place again.
delicious food and fantastic drinks. I only like Brussels sprouts when I eat here.
Coquina has gone downhill. It took 1/2 hr to receive the wine we ordered. Food arrived cold for all 6 people in our party. We are taking this restaurant off our list our next trip to Ashland. Very disappointing. It was one of our favorites....
Coquina's food is both delicious and imaginative with a beautiful presentation. The ambiance is cozy and the service is exceptional. Don't miss this gem on A Street it's really fabulous. Jack and Jackie
