Excellent food, nice people running it.
This is the best meal I've had this year. Hooooooly moley, Harana Cafe!!
If you go, please do yourself a favor and try the Milk Tea drink (pictured next to my Calamansi Lemonade). The Milk Tea has a flavor that is hard to describe and crazy to experience. It's whiskey/milk tea/pandan/grapefruit/lemon; and it's a drink so nice we tried it twice. ?
We also loved the Beef Mami - chewy noodles, perfectly tender beef, and the hardest part of the meal to share because we both wanted all of it.
Lumpia was fabulous, and we tried the Sisig Pork Belly and Cheese Ice Cream, too.
All delicious, but the Milk Tea and Beef Mami were the shining stars of the show. I can't wait to go back!!

Chicken adobo, delicious. Lots of yummy flavored chicken and cute mushrooms plus the sauce/chutney to go on top made the whole taste complex, rich, and dense with flavor. They also accommodated my needing to have quick service but not have to rush eating my food, so I can make an evening show at OSF. also it's very convenient if you are going to OSF because it's across the street from the free 4-hour public parking lot. If I had more time I would have had a cocktail, and if I had more room, I would have tried one of the interesting sounding desserts. The atmosphere is fun. You can sit outside in the walkway to an inner courtyard or inside with fun music and a cute, minimalist decor. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and would chat with you. Can't vouch for if they had been super busy, but the vibe was that they would never be too busy to talk. I would probably try something different, but it would be hard to pass up the dish that I had.

Masarap! My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Harana Cafe. The lumpia were really tasty and not at all greasy. The chicken adobo was very flavorful and the meat was really moist and tender. The star of the meal was the mango salad - so many different flavors in one dish!

We had an incredible experience at Harana! The meal made me feel like I was sitting in their kitchen enjoying a comfort food meal with my family. Their menu is small making it easy to choose but I'll tell you this you can't go wrong with anything.
We tried almost everything on the menu and while we enjoyed every bite my favorite dishes were the Pork Belly and the Beef Mami that was almost like a beef noodle stew. Their Lumpia was exceptional as well. They do serve cocktails which my friends enjoyed but I really enjoyed their non alcohol Calamansi Lemonade.
I can't wait to take back my family because I know they will be craving it as much as I do.

When I checked in to my hotel, they gave me a list of restaurants, and I'm so surprised this one wasn't on the list! I'm really glad I thought to sit down and also Google some restaurants nearby.
I've never had Filipino food before except from a coworker at a work pot luck, so I was really excited to try something new.
It's a pretty small menu, but I honestly respect a restaurant that focuses on doing a few things really really well, and that's definitely the case at Harana Cafe. This was the first place I ate at in Ashland and honestly none of the other food I've had on this trip can compare; everything was incredibly fresh and so delicious!
The lumpia are clearly fried to order, and so delicious that I was having a hard time being patient enough to wait for them to cool down enough to not burn myself eating them lol. The dipping sauce is so good I could drink it by itself. They look much better in person than they do in the picture I took; by the time I realized my camera was smudged I had eaten them all lol.
The beef mami was like nothing I've had before, incredibly savory and I don't think I've ever had brisket so tender, with a perfect egg. I got the pork belly sisig to take back to the hotel and eat later and even reheated in the microwave it was good, tho I imagine it would be much better fresh.
But honestly the most impressive was the halo halo. I thought I was familiar with the components of halo halo, but apparently not lol. I didn't realize it had jello in it, which ordinarily I absolutely loathe because I can't stand the texture. So when I say that the halo halo here is so good that it's the first time in my life I've been able to eat something with jello in it without gagging, that's high praise lol. Definitely get it with the ube ice cream!
I genuinely can't find a single fault with this restaurant; ordinarily I harp on places that aren't wheelchair accessible, but they were so accommodating that it honestly didn't affect my experience, and that's almost even better.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are stairs to get up to the order counter, but they were more than happy to give me a menu and take my payment from my table. Depending on the size of your wheelchair and how busy they are, it might be difficult to sit inside (it's a smallish dining room and they've really maximized the space with how many tables they can fit in there), but they also have outdoor seating. Also I think I remember the door being not very wide.
Honestly what's almost more impressive to me than a place that's wheelchair accessible, is a place that isn't but willingly goes out of their way to give disabled people an experience equal to what an abled person would have.

Great authentic Filipino cuisine! All the food we had was so flavorful and delicious. The lumpia and mango salad were especially good. The atmosphere was great, great restaurant in general. Service was also quick… about 10-15 minutes to get all the food. Would definitely recommend it!
Vegetarian options: There are I think about 5 vegetarian options on the menu, 2 of which we ordered. (mango salad and squash coconut stew) Both were very good!
Dietary restrictions: A few of the menu options can be made gluten free, and were very delicious!
Parking: There is parking right in front of the restaurant, seemed not very difficult to find parking.

Saw this restaurant recommended on Eater and it did not disappoint. My husband and I got the Green Mango Salad and the "Harana for Two," along with an Old Fashioned and the San Miguel Lager. They have a good variety of drinks and what we got were delicious! The food is pretty authentic to Philippino cuisine. The lumpia was delicious and had great sauces, but the chicken adobo was not as flavorful as what we wished. They did a great job of pacing the food so that our table was not crowded with plates. It would be easy to walk past since the label on the door is not large, but definitely a great spot to eat!

Food and service is excellent. The adobo chicken was out of this world! The lumpia as well. This was my first time and I definitely will return.
