Rude, and the GF menu options are admittedly cross contact. Negating true gluten free. Not celiac safe.
Not the same place. Prices and menu used to be reasonable and accessible. Our family has stayed here yearly and relied on the great food and inventive drinks offered here. The menu today featured $30+ items in a cafe setting, nothing for kids, and half the menu was blacked out. The entire place feels like a shell of its former self. The bar’s shelves, fully stocked a year ago, appear empty but for the most used bottles. The lunch menu is not available in the evening. I begrudgingly bought the wings for my daughter in lieu of any kids options. They were very good and the atmosphere is still nice but it feels dead here. This review’s negativity is entirely a reaction to changes that have been made. Note sure if it’s new management but we will be looking elsewhere next year. Hello Margaritaville.

I saw their sign on the freeway. It clearly states “+ Mercantile” but they have no merchandise. All it is is a cafe connected to a hotel. Not sure why they can’t make the simple fix of removing the false advertising of their name like the sign outside: “Cafe & lounge”
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE?
IT USED TO BE SO GOOD!
This was a $27 supposed to be skirt steak. It was the toughest piece of steak and it was only a small portion of a steak, not a whole steak. The “chimmichurri” was bland, overall the food is not good and way over priced.
THIS PLACE USED TO BE REALLY GOOD!

The waitress staff for the Luna cafe is horrible. I went there this morning with my friend and the lady took her order than breezed past me. I waited, thinking she had something to do. She mindlessly did nothing while I still waited coming over twice without saying anything. Eventually she finally took my order. I ordered the oatmeal and a coffee. I never received my coffee even though I paid for it and I never received the toast for the oatmeal either. I didn't realize this until I came back later to grab yogurt. I also stood there waiting to buy my yogurt for awhile, and two waitresses just yapped. The people behind me were waiting for tea and getting slightly annoyed too. Service here sucks. It's really not hard to greet people, and be friendly. The oatmeal wasnt even that great either. No flavor with bananas and raspberries thrown on top. I don't recommend.

Stayed at hotel and suites. Stopped in for breakfast. Ordered the oatmeal and breakfast sandwich. Sadly toast not toasted, gave me no butter, no jam and no knife. I had to ask and they acted like this was a huge inconvenience and odd request. The jam was old and stale. Oatmeal bland with nothing in it. Breakfast sandwich with potatoes my son said was mediocre. We are out of towners, not local to Oregon or the area. Maybe they just don't butter or toast bread here! Wanted to like it but wouldn't drive here to have breakfsst.

We have stayed at Ashland Hills several times and ordered food from Luna several times in the past and found the staff very kind and helpful, but our recent experience with Luna staff was very disappointing. The staff was rude to us and also refused to help us at all in ordering a meal to be waiting in our room when we arrived ( in the past they always did this). We were given some cryptic statement that 'the cafe has changed a lot recently.' Well Luna and Ashland Hills, we can change a lot too and find another place to stop over on our regular travels through Ashland.

Luna Cafe was a place we depended on for so many years. We came in for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as we do every year. We were so disappointed in the changes to the food quality. Luna use to have arguably one of the best burgers in the city. I felt completely gutted when suddenly tasting subpar meat on a stale conventional bun.
Service was lovely, the space still felt fun and clean - mid century modern. It's the only saving grace. I'm appalled that the management of this place is serving such low quality food at premium prices. Shame!
Bring back the old management and give the chef free range to be creative and love food again!

I used to live in Ashland, and Luna was a nice little gem of a restaurant. Visiting friends, we chose Ashland Hills because of the convenience of a nice restaurant on premises. But boy, things have changed. (I just read that although it looks the same, ownership changed.)
We ate here twice this trip. Portions were ample, but the food was such that I didn’t want to even try to finish it. The meatloaf, once a go to, has transformed into a grey slab of something covered in a sauce that tastes mostly of salt. It was served with mashed potatoes that had great flavor but were served cold, along with mixed vegetables that were ‘meh’.
Also had the Indian-inspired chicken appetizer, and a mixed salad. The salad was large, a great deal for $9, but I swear it might have come out of a “bag of salad” from Sysco foods. The blue cheese dressing was served in a cup and wasn’t anywhere near as god as the bottled dressing you’d buy yourself at Safeway The chicken came in 6 large pieces, I couldn’t eat more than two… they were a little undercooked. I love Indian food, but I don’t think the cook knows what it’s supposed to look like.
The staff is friendly, no complaints with the bar options. If all I wanted was a beer, I’d have been great. No NA beer options though.
TLDR: food portions were good buy the quality here isn’t what it used to be. Wrote my first bad food review ever. Won’t plan to eat here again.

This place used to be dependable after a road trip. New management has turned everything into jail food. The only thing we could eat were the fries which clearly were from Sysco or Costco. It's better to starve than eat here.

It used to be our favorite place until they were bought out. My favorite dishes were taken off the menu, the salmon cakes, the smoked mushroom sandwich, and the meatless burger. There are almost no vegetarian / vegan options anymore. The took away all of the non-alcoholic drink choices they used to have... and the prices are high and the food is so so. We won't be returning... whoever bought it made some really bad choices and now it just seems like a 'corporate' owned restaurant. I would steer clear.

Luna used to be Top 3 in Ashland. Great quality food and fair price. Still friendly staff and nice atmosphere but food was blah. A thin maybe 4-5ounce patty for a $17 burger. The bun did not taste or look homemade.
The $20 chicken and pear salad was standard ingredients, overly vinegary and just blah.
This place used to stand out I hope they correct this but for now. I’ll stay away
