i had a horrible experience with a "waitress " (person taking orders at the counter on the restaurant store). I brought my teacup maltese (4.5 lb dog) in (inside my jacket mind you) and went to the counter to order. The highly unpleasant woman at the counter asserted that I needed to remove my animal (didn't even ask if it was a service animal), to which I replied that I would put her in my car.
