Busu Astoria Reviews
So good. Large portion size. Obviously a talented chef. Served all of us (carnivore, herbivore, omnivore). Incredibly delicious and served with kindness! Outside seating. I’m saving the phone number so I can call ahead and order for pick up. This one is going straight to power rotation.
Delicious pickled daikon, bok choy & mushrooms.
The freshness and flavor is a feast for the senses!! I had the shrimp miso and pickled veggies. Ken, the chef/owner, was excited to share his experience. We are looking forward to coming back!!

Busu Astoria, a hidden gem on the Oregon coast, offers a unique dining experience with its locally sourced Japanese cuisine and "out the window" service. This small restaurant opens for dinner at 6 pm, but the chef is ready when he's ready, ensuring an authentic experience. The menu features a rotating selection of seasonal dishes, including chef-foraged ingredients and private dining experiences where the chef curates a special menu just for you. The owner-chef, Kenzo, is a kind and knowledgeable individual who takes pride in his craft and enjoys engaging with customers. Busu caters to various dietary needs, offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options alongside their meat and glutenous dishes. From the delicious udon noodles to the mouthwatering quail "oyakodon tribute," Busu delivers a dining experience that stands on its own merit, without the formality of white tablecloths or high prices. Many visitors have described the food as life-changing, with dishes like the oko spud and curried egg salad sandwich impressing even first-time guests. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, with some customers saying they were drawn in by recommendations from others sitting at the counter. Chef Kenzo's generosity and love for food make every meal special, often feeling like a gift for both the stomach and the soul. The restaurant also offers a donation-based lunch menu, which many say is worth double, featuring dishes like yakisoba, mushroom congee, and pickled mushrooms with kimchi.
