“This spot is pure quality served fresh out of a tiny to-go window. Busu is a one-man show; it opens when the chef is ready to roll (and not before), which for us was a little past 6pm. Get there early because the line gets long fast.He told us it was his first time cooking the menu (handwritten on a whiteboard, of course) headed up by a whole quail "oyakodon tribute" and including a forager's miso, kimchi congee, and kara-age morel mushrooms. It was the best meal someone has cooked me in years. No exaggeration, I tore that quail apart with my hands on a picnic bench in 5 minutes flat and nothing but bones remained. My one regret is that I didn't even bother taking pictures because I couldn't wait to eat, and the quail was legitimately a thing of beauty.Places like Busu are getting harder to find. This isn't the place to go if you're expecting to be coddled and catered to, although the service is genuinely good and the chef is a delight to interact with. This is cuisine without white tablecloths, triple-digit price tags, or pretense. It's good, genuinely good, so good that the food stands entirely on its own merit. I will definitely be back, and I'll stand outside that little window as long as I need to for another helping.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian/vegan items were clearly labeled, and more than half the menu was vegan. They even had gluten-free options!”
“Apologies for no food images, but the food was too delicious to put down our forks. We ordered the crepes (both savory and sweet) as well as the Dutch baby. Pretty amazing food. Really wish we had found out about this place sooner. Great food and view!”
“"WOW" really encapsulates my partner and I's dinner experience here. We originally planned on going to the SEA Crab House, but saw the menu on the window of this place and couldn't help but change our plans. Their menu is broken into courses with the smaller/shareable plates in courses 1-2, and the heartier options in courses 3-4. Everything on the menu looked terrific, which made it so hard to choose. We ended up starting with the deviled eggs & arugula salad, and then each got a pasta for our main course. I really want to emphasize I am not exaggerating at all when I say that all of the food was absolutely splendid AND, if that isn't enough, the prices are great. My shrimp linguine was a very generous portion and only $18. The quality of the food compared to the price is probably the best I've ever experienced. Also, the deviled eggs are a must. On top of the food being great, our waitress was amazing. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. It wasn't super busy when we first arrived (maybe 4:30pm), but the place was pretty full with people waiting by the time we left. After one dinner, Fede is 100% our new go-to dinner spot when visiting Astoria. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu!”
“You’d probably say to yourself, as someone who isn’t a fan of seafood, this probably isn’t the place for you. That’s what I thought too!I was wrong. The food here is really good, so much so that even I was into it. Not just idly, either, we had to scrap for the crab cakes. Do yourself a favor and give this place a go, even if you’re only marginally curious about the fare—it’ll sell you. Well done y’all.”
“Vicky is knocking it out of the park with this venue. Fabulous wine offerings, lovely cheese and charcuterie boards as well as local beer and non-alcoholic offerings. Oh, I didn't mention the delightful staff - AMAZING! Very warm (with fireplace) and welcoming! Love, love, love this place! We will be back soon and likely at least once a week! Thank you Vicky, Chloe and Katie!!!! Denise and Scot”
“Been here several times. The food is always good and the staff always friendly. On our most recent visit, I ordered the ahi with crispy rice and carrot puree. It was incredible! The fish was cooked perfectly and the dish was very well balanced. We also had the Blondie with ice cream and it was also delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant!”
“Can’t give 1/2*, otherwise would be 4.5*. The food and service were amazing. We had spinach salad and checca. The only weak spot food-wise is their balsamic. Definitely need to up their game on that. The other negative was the 4% upcharge, apparently for using credit card; not advertised anywhere. And it seems businesses have decided to turn card acceptance into a profit center. I don’t know any processors that charge 4% fee. But otherwise a great find with great food.”
“We had a lovely intimate dinner and met the chef! The lamb was delicious as were the cabbage rolls and serviced with fruit and salad. Easy access in the quaint Astoria downtown core.”
“The food was very good, clam chowder, salmon sliders, and shrimp cocktail. Also, it's called Artistic Dinning. This is the second restaurant that covered the tables with white butcher paper and crayons. However, I always have art works with Mr, "Wreck of the Peter Iredale"”
“Me and my wife are on our anniversary trip from Washington. We decided to check out this unique restaurant as a mix of curiosity and being hungry after a long day of driving. We were greeted by Tracy right away. She was the best server you could ask for! She was patient with my indecisiveness on the menu (so many great dishes! We ended up getting a few different things) she was genuine and made sure we were taken care of promptly. The cocktails were great! The chowder was fantastic, and the oysters were phenomenal. The crab was fresh and we enjoyed every bit! The gator was good and I was pleasantly surprised at the exotic meats available. I highly recommend this place 11/10. A very unique and inviting atmosphere and you could not ask for better staff. Next time we are in the area we will be stopping in again! Thank you so much for the awesome experience!”
“Delicious sushi spot. Staff is friendly and as fast as they could be given they were short handed during my visit. Plenty of options for both sushi lovers and noodle lovers. Super tasty bento boxes as well. Definitely worth the stop if you're hankering some sushi. ?”
“My wife and I were visiting Astoria for the first time - kind of celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. After going to the Bridgewater Bistro and discovering it was closed to the public for a private party, our second choice was T. Paul’s Supper Club - which was right across the street from our hotel. We split the nightly special which was a 6 oz. sirloin steak that came with 4 jumbo prawns cooked any one of 4 ways (we chose the coconut shrimp version), mashed potatoes and broccolini with carrots for the vegetable. And we also added a house salad which ended up being fantastic in it’s own right. The steak, mashed potatoes and vegetables were also fantastic and the shrimp came with an orange marmalade / thai chili sauce (or something) and that was truly out of this world. Then there was the dessert - we split the Chocolate Ganache Cake - a chocolate lava cake with pecans and caramel inside and whipped cream on top with french vanilla ice cream on the side - all drizzled lightly with chocolate and caramel sauce. Hands down the best dessert my wife and I have ever had.The atmosphere was warm and cozy and the service was excellent to boot. What more could you ask for? Nada! 5 stars does not even do justice to the excellence of this restaurant.”
“I had the burger, fries and Carruthers salad. Everything was delicious, elevated and I loved it. The service was mediocre at best... Not terrible but not up to par.”
“This is a temporary review because google is trying to force me to do it...we went in and wanted to order, but the guy was being very passive-aggressive. A very long wait when we went as well, about 45 minutes to an hour.”
“Fantastic vibe! Fantastic service. Bartenders are amazing! Drinks were great! Only recommendation would be to expand the food options. But even that was pretty darn good. Thanks for a great night!”
