So dang good. First time here and everything we had was delicious. Oyster Shooters, Calamari and Crab on Indian Fry Bread, all were incredible.Recommend doing the Crab Fry Bread half and half with the two flavor options, both were delicious and unique.Service was good but you do have to order at the counter. Didn’t realize beers were in can when we ordered, would have preferred draft.Overall good experience and will definitely be back.
When you ask a local in Astoria where to eat, South Bay is usually near the top of the list. They're not your usual fried seafood joint. There's greater creative effort here. And while they don't offer a waterfront view, you'll still find a warm and comforting vibe that may explain the line at the door to get in. You’d probably say to yourself, as someone who isn’t a fan of seafood, this probably isn’t the place for you. That’s what I thought too!I was wrong. The food here is really good, so much so that even I was into it. Not just idly, either, we had to scrap for the crab cakes. Do yourself a favor and give this place a go, even if you’re only marginally curious about the fare—it’ll sell you. Well done y’all.
