As a picky eater, the food was great I felt the proteins were lacking in sauce and should've gotten extra but it was my first time. The meal did come with a cup of each sauce but for me it needed more. The spam masubi are enormous but delicious and great if you enjoy ample rice.

Raw and unseasoned chicken waste of money and long wait time

I am an out-of-towner who worked in Astoria for 6 months. With a lot of food options in town, TUIMATO HAWAIIAN BBQ was my go-to spot for food. Poke bowl and short rib plate are absolutely the best. Great mac salad also. Great prices and portions. Family-owned/run from Hawaii, really authentic and flavorful. Some often the best Hawaiian BBQ I've had anywhere, including in Hawaii. My favorite food spot in town.

Got the Huli Huli chicken and dad got the teriyaki chicken. Chicken was raw and unseasoned, mac salad was okay needed salt. Staff was upset after saying the chicken was raw and showed to them. Do not recommend.

Stopped and ate here on a whim and so glad we did! Generous portions, amazing flavors, and a great deal. We tried the huli huli chicken, pork, and kalbi beef and highly recommend all three. We’ll be stopping here again next time we’re in Astoria!

I was born and raised in Honolulu, and Local Boy Grindz serves up the best kalbi and huli-huli chicken I've had in the Northwest. The BBQ/teri sauce is incredible. I will definitely be back!!

The meat was very tender, but really flavorless. Without the sauce on all the food, it was all pretty flavorless. The mac salad was bland as well.

I’ve been looking to try this place since moving to the area recently but it was unfortunately some of the worst “kalbi” beef that I’ve ever had. It’s always hard to find good Hawaiian plate lunches mainland side but it’s never this bad. The meat they used wasn’t flanken style short rib but flank steak that was barely marinated and too thickly cut. The sauce on the side was way too sweet to be dipping bland steak in and the macaroni salad didn’t have any flavor either, other than plain mayonnaise. If you’re looking for da ono grindz, this definitely is not the place. It’s just a poor imitation and there’s nothing legit about the food here.

Great locals spot! The food is tasty, fresh and affordable. Highly commend the Kalbi beef mix plate. Make sure to ask for a side of chili pepper sauce!

Vegetarian options: There aren't vegetarian options just a heads up. But everything on the menu is incredible!
