Bought a dozen oysters.
Only 4 of them were alive and the others needed to be dumped. Face it Flounder, I effed up, I trusted them.

Drove over from Portland a few days ago to buy some fresh cooked crab. The lady at the counter told us that the crab was fresh and had just been cooked that morning. She wrapped it up for us, without offering to crack and clean it, though she did offer some ice to keep it cold. We kept in our cooler, with the ice and some ice packs of our own. When we got home and tried to crack and clean it smelled bad. I took out all the meat, but it smelled like ammonia. Really bad smell! We had to throw it out. Such a disappointment. I cannot recommend this place.

Came in to buy crab, you were out of stock. How do you expect to stay in business, with no crab IN ASTORIA! The guy who put the thermometer in the seafood case, brought in a dog in his right hand, set it down and then put the thermometer in the case with no gloves! Usta be you'd get a big fine for that...I'd never go in there again.

Very kind and directed us to another small business that stocked what I was looking for. They could have just said “no, we don’t stock that” and hung up the phone. Instead, they were helpful!! We will definitely support this business because good customer service can be hard to find these days!

We went here in hopes that the market was still as extensive as the old pictures. Unfortunately that’s not the case. But the owner was there and still found some left over exotic meats he had left over. It was BUSY. And while we were waiting and seeing all the delicious food coming out of the kitchen, we decided to sit and have a meal. Jessica was the one who helped us and she certainly didn’t expect us to just decide and sit. We should have asked. She didn’t even flinch. As busy as she was, running all over the restaurant, her customer service never failed. She was SO nice and accommodating. She is definitely a reason to come back. Hard to find personable workers who do that great of a job in a high stress environment. The food is delicious. We had halibut fish and chips, and the cheese crab melt. They definitely don’t skimp on the crab. We will definitely be returning and recommending. But don’t go and expect the market anymore. They have a seasonal limited case of select things. When we went it was a few kinds of fish, smoked fish, shrimp, crab and clams.

Stopped in for lunch on our road trip and had the grilled Chinook and Cioppino, both were so FRESH and delicious. Hubby slurped up every bit of the broth. Service was outstanding as Annie kept checking on us to make sure everything was perfect. As I was paying my bill she was making fresh Bloody Mary mix and I had to stay to try. OMG! Best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. Thank you Annie for a great experience and lunch! We will be back when we visit Astoria!
