What great food you have. It was so hard for us to choose so I think we picked a little bit of everything.

I would come back for the ramen it's just how I like my ramen. Karaage fried chicken was tasty. Sauce was tasty. About as good or better than syun in Hillsboro. Rolls were pretty basic and expensive but man do they have a lot of people working here no wonder it's priced high. I think I would pick Syun in Hillsboro for sushi. I would come here for ramen again. Also like the ambience of syun in Hillsboro better but AFURI feels clean just the acoustics from all the smooth surfaces make it kind of noisy for my taste and not very intimate.

**vegetarian review** I highly recommend Afuri for their ramen and the potato appetisers. But I'll break down rest of the review. Rolls - we got the 3 vegetarian rolls - avocado, umeshu and pickled daikon. All 3 rolls were very average - not bad but nothing you won't find anywhere else. We also got the vegetarian dumplings- some folks in my group loved the dumplings but another place where I thought they were kinda basic. The dumplings will not bring me back here I guess. We ordered this potato dish - I don't remember the name. This was delicious! I loved the sauce, and he potatoes, the mushrooms, the asparagus. We ordered it again half way through the meal. Finally the vegetarian ramen- this was quite good. Lots of veggies, and the broth was light and delicious. Another thing I would def order again. We got some garlic on the side which added more oomph to the flavour.

If I could give this place a ZERO I would! Horrible service! We walked in when they opened for dinner and they put us on a waitlist for 1.5 hours. We waited for 1.5 hours and were 1st on the waitlist, then walked back in to check the status of our wait time and then the hostess told us they will not serve us for the rest of the evening due to high amounts of reservations, after we already waited 1.5 hours. If this was the case, they should've said that when we first walked in and put our name down for the waitlist or texted us to inform us earlier. They did not even offer us bar seating and after waiting for 1.5 hours, the "reserved" tables were still open. Waste of time since our family drove out of town to come to this restaurant! Very disappointed and we nor our family/friends will ever return here. This place is a joke! Don't waste your time.

It was a late-ish dinner for us in Beaverton, and Afuri was about 90% full when we were seated. Our first time to this location and we were a bit stymied by the compact menu of ramen, sushi and grill items. Decided in the end to get a couple of grilled skewers and a cold ramen dish to split. The grilled items came relatively quickly. Tsukune was tender and not overdone. These came with a soy cured egg yolk dip. The overall effect was a bit on the salty side. I like my food well seasoned but this was a bit much. My eggplant skewer with a touch of grated ginger was very good. Then came a bunch of waiting around for the cold ramen. Apparently we were not alone in a long wait. The table next to us cancelled their order and walked out because of this. Eventually it did arrive, but the noodle texture was off. Cold noodles (I feel) should be well rinsed after cooking to both chill them thoroughly and remove excess starch. The noodles were both too warm and stuck in unpleasant-to-eat hard clumps. I considered mentioning it when we settled the bill, but at a certain point I just wanted to get out of there. There are a lot of solid restaurants choices in Beaverton now, and it is not likely we'll be back anytime soon. Not horrible, but also not worth the money.

Drinks: - I had the Afuri Yuzu Lager, it's very easy to drink. Typically if I see a yuzu beer, I'm going for it. The citrus notes are nice, kinda like a cross between a lemon and an orange to me Food: - I had the karaage with the egg salad, I thought it was okay. I personally didn't really like the karaage and egg combination, but hey it's fried chicken I'm gonna eat it regardless - I had the gobo robatayaki, the texture is satisfying, it has a nice crunch. Gobo root is a must for me. I highly encourage people to try it when they can. I think it's an underrated ingredient - I had the Hatsu chicken hearts robatayaki. For those who want to try chicken hearts but feel apprehensive, try it here first. I imagine it's gonna be hard to find higher quality chicken hearts than this Ambience: - Very bright and has a lot of natural light - The bar has a giant bamboo book shelf looking structure emitting warm light Overall: I like the robatayaki most here. I've had some of the other appetizers, nigiri, and rolls before but I think the robatayaki is the MVP

This place is a joke. To call it Izakaya is a also incorrect. The food is uninspired, tasteless at times. The sushi is akin to the sushi you would buy in a plastic box at 9pm on a Tuesday at a supermarket. The dumplings are no better than the frozen ones you get at Trader Joe's. Yakitori for vegans yes? 4 shisito peppers grilled on a stick for $5? 4 small pieces of eggplant grilled with no seasoning or sauce $4? It honestly blows my mind that this place has been in business over a year. Maybe it's because of the Ramen? I am not sure because we didn't order the Ramen. Ugh.

Afuri has been on my list of restaurants to check out in Portland, so I was excited to go here while visiting friends. We came here for dinner on a weekend, and just a word of warning, the restaurant itself isn't very big and it was very busy. We ended up waiting about an hour. If you're here with just 1 other person, you can grab a seat at the bar and the wait for that is much better. There's also outdoor seating but it was too cold and rainy that night so that added to the long wait since everyone wanted to be inside. We ended up getting the shishito peppers and karaage as appetizers. For ramen, we got the tonkotsu tantanmen and the shoyu. Unfortunately, I felt like the food didn't live up to the hype. It was just ok and I feel like there are better options at a lower price and with less wait. There's a lot of street parking around, just check the hours to make sure it's free parking while you're there. There's also a lot of other Asian restaurants in the area which is very convenient.

Since I've moved to Portland, I've wanted to try this place out. I know they are known for their ramen but since I'm not a ramen type of girl, we went for the other stuff on the menu. FOOD: We got a bunch of different things. The main thing to note is that the food is definitely Americanized. Being Japanese, I can say the food was good but it wasn't all the way authentic Japanese food. The best things were the skewers (you can taste the smokiness from the grill) and the Bincho roll (was very light and easy to eat). AMBIANCE: Love how open the inside of the restaurant feels and it also has a cute little patio area which is great for when the weather is nice. The area around the restaurant is also very cute and there's a lot more restaurants and things to do. SERVICE/PRICE: We sat at the bar and the service was mid. The bartenders tended to us but it seemed like they didn't really know a lot about the wine. However, they did let me do a taster of wine which was nice. The food came out at a good pace. Price point is higher than I expected and a bit high for the quality of food. Food & Beverages: 3.8 Ambiance & Cleanliness: 4 Price Point: 3 Overall Experience: 4

Food and service here is okay, underwhelming considering there are a few other small ramen shops nearby that I would personally prefer. We went here because the restaurant we were wanting to try was busy. Ordered the Potstickers, Spicy Tonkatsu, Kids Ramen, and two sushi rolls. The potstickers were soggy and didn't have the crispy pan fry as intended, they broke every time we picked them up with our chopsticks. However, the dipping sauce for it was the best part of our meal lol It was nice they offered a plain ramen for kids, but it's just that... plain. As for the sushi, the rolls are small and the sushi isn't as fresh. There are also limited options to choose from. Added Pork Chasu and egg to my Spicy Tonkatsu ramen. The broth could be a little saltier and spicier. Okay for tastebuds wanting a small kick

I came to try out their robatayaki. Definately did not disappoint. Each dish was very tasty and loved the char taste from the fire. We also tried out their yuzu limeade soda, and taywo drinks. Super delicious. Highly recommend.

Pretty underwhelming experience overall. My party of 4 was there right when they opened on a Sunday at 11:30am. Second party to be seated. Service was frustrating throughout the whole time. I typically have patience, so it was disappointing seeing the place get packed and other parties were getting their food before us. It did not make sense for us to get our food 45-60 minutes after we were seated/arrived. The wait yes was an issue and I can understand staffing issues (and I also think that's why sushi was unavailable that afternoon), but it didn't make sense when parties were getting their appetizers and ramen before we did. One of our orders were completely forgotten and came at the very end. Fortunately they were nice enough to comp it for us. Ramen was okay, but it was really hard for me to give it a fair assessment when I was irritated about all this. I definitely was still hungry after our meal.

Afuri Izikaya is one of the best places to go when someone in your dining party is vegan/vegetarian. The vegan ramen is absolutely delicious! I think this is the first time I've had a vegan ramen where it felt like the broth did not come from a can and is perfectly salted. I loved the roasted veggies - okra and squash and lots of good stuff! My husband raved about the sushi - it seems it's the best he has had so far! And on top of that, the chocolate cake was beautiful and just as good as it looked!

Food - 3.5 Service - 5 Drinks - 3 Parking - 2 Price - $$$ One person will be between $30-50 without drinks. With drinks, you will spend $75+. If money is no object, the place is worth trying. If you want to get value, then plenty of better places in Beaverton. Ryoma and Kukai have better Ramen. Kukai has better appetizers. Shoten has better sushi. If you want to go to Portland, Shigezo is better for Robata. Yama for sushi and izakaya. Look how tiny the rolls are. At other places, I can get two normal size 8pc rolls for $25. Robota should be cheaper the more you order. Drinks are good, but overpriced and they put too much I've in their cocktails. I must have got 3 oz of drink. This place doesn't belong in Beaverton. It should be in the Pearl or Lake O.

The restaurant has a nice feel. I like the open kitchen & the full bar. The sushi was overpriced & selection of sushi was shockingly low. I don't mind paying these prices, but that would be based on the quality of the sushi. Unagi was dry, rice was hard, but the fresh wasabi(eighth of a teaspoon = $6 ) was delicious. The remaining nigiri I had was ok. They're grilled plates were flavorful. Waited over half an hour for a sushi roll & after they noticed still took longer than usual. There were 4/5 personnel in the kitchen & the restaurant may have had 30 patrons. You would think they would comp something after waiting that long. I guess that's not their protocol. I want to go back to give them another try, but I can't see myself paying for sushi that had the same quality as those merry go round sushi restaurants.
