The portions are small for the prices. Alcapurrias are half the size so 2 small make 1 regular one at $9, 4 sorullitos are $5. That's 1.25 each! Even breaded steak is small for $29. Pasteles are wrapped in aluminum not banana leaves. No cola champagne or malta, etc. It's best to make it at home.

A little too salty for my taste( maybe because I changed my plate) but great seasoning and ambiance.

This was our first time trying Puerto Rican food, and Boriken Restaurant absolutely blew us away!

We started with the empanadillas de pollo, which were fantastic. The pastry was perfectly fried and crispy, and the chicken filling was perfectly seasoned.

For entrées, I had the pork mofongo, and it was incredible. The plantains were seasoned so well that I could’ve eaten them on their own, and the pork was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The portion size was generous, and every bite was perfection. My wife ordered the steak mofongo, which she loved, and got to take half home because the portions are huge.

Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.

Overall, Boriken made our first Puerto Rican food experience unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back!

This was probably my first puerto rican restaurant. I really liked the food, went back a few more times.
Their home made spicy sauce 🤤🤌🏻
Didnt take the photo but i recommend the pina colada.
Food comes out on a little slower side, but 👌🏻

There's no place like Broken! The food is amazing, just like being in PR. Service is fast and kind, and their Pina coladas are too cheap to be real!

We decided to stop by this place after always driving by it and wondering how it was. The place was nice and cozy and had like a local relaxed vibe to it. We ordered the Tenderized Steak Marinated in a Garlicy Vinegar sauce, the Mofongo with roasted pork, and empanadas to share. The standout dish for me was the Mofongo. It was a unique dish that I hadn't tried before. It came in like one of the mortar shaped bowls with like smashed plantains and the slow roasted pork in the middle. It was pretty good. The Marinated Steak was decent and had a good flavor to it, but the Mofongo would be my recommendation.

I only tried an appetizer for the food. I had ordered tostones but on the menu it said fried plantains. Tostones are fried plantains but they're fried twice. When I got my three tostones they were very chewy and rubbery and there was nothing that tasted fried about it it did not taste like a tost on it at all. I base a lot of Puerto Rican places on their tostones. If something as basic as a tostones is not good I feel as though the food's not going to be good and I'm not going to waste my money or my time. I have really wanted to try an empanadilla but I was not willing to take that chance after paying $3 for 3 tostones that we're not even though stones or even fried plantains in any way at all. Is very upsetting that that's the only Puerto Rican place around here. So I've decided that I would rather cook my Puerto Rican food at home because I am Puerto Rican and that it would taste 100% better because I think what they consider authentic and what is authentic are two different things. I mean I would go back if they actually made a tostones or even a decent looking empanadilla but I'm scared to waste my money when I can make it myself a whole hell of a lot cheaper. I just wanted the luxury to not have to cook myself. If you want some real authentic tostones hit me up and I got you because for the price of 3 platanos which comes out to less than $3 you can actually get like 12 tostones if not more it's not hard to make it yourself

Service was atrocious. The server played around on her phone. We had to get up from our table to go ask to have our order taken, given some water, and get our bill. While the menu was large. It seemed like they were out of half the menu: We ended up getting one thing to share. But the portion was large and the food tasted okay. Overall, the poor service would have been excusable had the meals we wanted been tasty and available: Unfortunately it was a super disappointing experience.

Amazing! One of the only places to get great Puerto Rican food in the Portland area.
