Guys you need to hear me out. This is the second time I'm eating at this place and second time I'm having food poisoning (diarrhea). There is something seriously wrong with the food quality here. I vow to never come back here again. Been 🤢🤮 from the past 30 min.
Horrendous place with serious food quality issues.

I can't recommend this place. 3pm on a Saturday with a sign that reads that all food orders will be 30 mins+ from time of order. Walked in no one in sight or at counter. Tables un-busted. Dirty floor, walls where dirty with dirt and food. Tables that were 'clean' looked sticky with leftover stuff. I can't say if the food was good or night as we didn't even get far enough in the process to get an order in.

Food is okay. Long queue that doesn't move as folks are waiting on bread. It's not clear where one sits. Limited but acceptable choice. Paper plates. Lassi and chai are good. Food in not too spicy (that's good).

Food was so delicious and flavorful. They served it hot and freshly cooked… they have outdoor indoor sitting areas…. Good space for parties … love the papdi chat and Aalu tikki chat …. Chai is also amazing…must visit this place if you are in Portland…
Quantity was also sufficient.

Went to this Indian spot today 'cause the reviews looked pretty good, but honestly, it was a letdown. Most of the food trays were almost empty and they didn’t bother refilling them. Everything was served in disposable plates with super cheap plastic forks and spoons — made it hard to even eat properly. The vibe didn’t match what I expected at all.

Dahi puri was not dahi puri. Does not match with doordash photo. Rather it is just some kind of chaat. Very bad.

The lamb rogan Josh was quite good. It was served at a hot spice level and matched my expectations.

The most disappointed food we had in Portland.

Ordered Chilli chicken and Szechuan chicken fried rice (spicy), but what we received was frozen and reheated chili chicken which you can clearly tell after you eat. And the fried rice has no salt or spice despite asking for spicy.
Stay away.

I saw many items I didn't recognize, this is a very good thing. This didn't feel Americanized and had Mango Lassi on tap for the buffet, very pleasantly surprised.

We had such a lovely meal at Desi bites, the butter chicken is the best I’ve ever had and the naan was fresh and hot. The owner came to our table and was very kind. I appreciated the casual environment and how friendly they were with my son, as it can be hard to eat out with a little kid. I would absolutely recommend for dine in or takeout!

My experience at Desi Bites was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others.

Horrible Hygiene:
The restaurant was filthy even though we visited right after they opened for the afternoon. The floors were greasy and sticky, tables were smeared with old grease, and the trash can was overflowing. If this is the state of the place at opening, it’s clear they never bother to clean. I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like.

Worst Customer Service:
We waited over 35 minutes for a simple dish like pav bhaji. When we asked about the delay, the owner was extremely rude and dismissive, showing zero concern for our experience or the long wait.

Terrible Food Quality:
The food was a disaster. The food was bland, cold, and tasted stale-like it had been sitting around for days. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the glowing 5-star reviews are paid or fake, because our food was inedible.

Spice Level Gimmick:
They ask for your preferred spice level, which initially seemed like a nice touch. We ordered ā€œHot,ā€ but all they did was dump raw chili powder into the already-prepared dish. The result was a gritty, unpleasant taste of raw spice-no effort to actually cook it in, which is basic cooking 101.

Not Worth the Price:
Don’t be fooled by the lower prices. The cheap rates are not worth the horrible food, unhygienic environment, and terrible service. There are plenty of better Indian restaurants in the area-do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

We went for the Mother’s Day Buffet, and it was exceptional. The menu, taste and the service were so good. Owner Amit was so courteous and even tho it was so crowded they were filling up the items quickly. We really applaud the way they handled the crowd today and everything tasted so good. I highly recommend this place.
