They have a new chef who is doing new things. The gf brownie moose cake, that has been a winner for a long time has been removed from the menu. The only gf option replacement was a horrible fruit pudding with sandy clumpy texture. The steaks are never done to the proper doneness here. After two attempts to get it right we just asked for a credit to the bill, I’m sad. This used to be my favorite restaurant. I don’t recommend paying the $7 for a kombucha, they pour 1/2 the bottle over ice and serve a watered down way over priced product. I have complained about this but they still do it. I won’t be back.

Ryan , our server was attentive , but not overly so. He was really quite pleasant. We both had the GVB burger with cheddar cheese, mushrooms and bacon. Everything was cooked and tasted perfectly. We came with another couple on a Saturday night and it was a bit on the noisy side. But other than that, everything was quite good.

I have always enjoyed my experiences at GVBR! Great food and wonderful service. Would highly recommend.

We don’t come here enough! Our service today just good ole fashion custom service, which seems hard to find. It was my birthday today and I did not mention it to the server. I told my husband all I wanted was to tip her a little more because she just gave me a good vibe and experience. Server PW B please recognize her service.
Thank you GVB for training your staff so well as well as taking care of them to make them good employees.

I live almost 8 hours away but every time we're here, we'll be going to Golden Valley. Food is always great and so are the drinks. Service has been spot on every time. I'm obsessed.

Service was fine. Steak was not prepared properly. Then cooked up and not prepared propertly for a second time. I dont think it even hit the grill. Food seemed like it was prepared like a hotel-in large batches….Beer was good!

Maybe because it was Monday
I’ll say from the very start — it’s my fault for not ordering a burger. With the dinner options only a few dollars more, I figured I’d try something beyond pub food. Unfortunately, I would NOT recommend the pork schnitzel.

The sides — braised cabbage and potatoes — tasted like they had simply been drizzled with vinegar and called finished. Very little seasoning, very little depth. The pork breading itself was rough and gritty, almost like a mixture of sand and pebbles, to the point it tore the roof of my mouth up while eating it. The “gravy” wasn’t really gravy either, more like a thick paste spread across the plate.

The arugula was actually a nice touch, but I think it would’ve worked better lightly dressed in a small pile on the side instead of spread underneath everything on the plate.

Granted, I was there on a Monday, and I know many chefs have that day off, so maybe I caught the kitchen on an off night.

I sat at the bar, and maybe I’m just a little old-fashioned, but I still believe bartenders should stay engaged with the bar itself — especially with solo customers. Between waiting tables and bussing, there wasn’t much of that barroom hospitality or conversation you hope for when dining alone

They charge about 10 bucks for an oxidized beer. Wine was in a can and was 12 bucks. Food was alright, we’ve given this place about 3 shots over the last 5 years and we’re disappointed every time. If you are looking for a brewery I would most definitely recommend giving your money to a place who takes a little bit more pride in their beer. There are so many places in Portland that brew a beer 100% times better for half the price.

The woman who manages this place is rude. Won't look you in the face and speaks to you in a the most smug disgusting way.
