My daughter and I really enjoy this place. We always end up going here when she has half days from school. In our opinion, the best Hawaiian cuisine in the state.

First time at this restaurant, first time using their drive thru, bad experience.
I ordered a sandwich, got a meal. All that rice went to waste. The saving grace was the macaroni salad it was good not great good. The Huli Huli chicken must have been a tough old bird because it was hard and flavorless not even the soy sauce or the siracha sauce help! Threw that out as well. The final straw was I paid with cash had my wallet ready to add to the change and put a tip in their cup and she helped herself to the change! Just said “ have a nice day “. So I left no tip and drove away. I’m good no need to return.

Wow the food is so good. The managers are nice. The owners are really nice. The food is very authentic and I feel like I’m in Hawaii. When I eat there I wish they brought back the beef. It’s delicious. I know it’s rough time since Biden took office. Everything‘s been very expensive and I understand why they’re struggling. Honestly, if they moved to another location, I would still support them. I appreciate supporting owner and just honest people like the owner. I would continue to support them as long as they are open. The food is not too expensive the Mac salad is the bomb Diggity.

Holy crap. I am blown away!!!
I lived In Hawaii for a year back in 2015 and ever since then, I have never. Ever. Found any Hawaiian food to compare to actual stuff. I’ve tried every place in Portland and other cities, to no avail…. UNTIL TODAY!!!
To start, I gotta say that I’ve passed this place 1000’s of times and never have stopped. It looks a little run down from the outside and is never open when I pass by so I always thought it was out of business. But I drove by today and noticed it was open so I stopped by to try it. Also - side note: I’ve tried another Hawaiian time in Salem back about a decade ago that was pretty awful so I didn’t have high hopes for this place at all.
I ordered the Ali’i (large) Mauna Loa chicken plate with a Hawaiian Sun P.O.G. It’s a spicy chicken dish that came with rice and Mac salad.
First thing I did was try the Mac salad. What a friggin explosion of flavor!! The BEST Mac salad I’ve had, to date. Super flavorful, lots of pepper, creamy with plenty of sauce. Absolutely perfect ??
Second, I tried a bite of the chicken. Perfectly moist with just the right amount of spice. Friggin MELT IN YOUR MOUTH YUM. And they gave you plenty of sauce to mix with your rice which is a huge plus for me.
Next, I added some Nori Komi Furikake to my white rice and chowed down. Another perfect bite ??
I’m so glad I got the large so I can take some home for later. I paid $21 for a huge serving of food that could possibly feed me three meals, a drink and 20% tip. Absolutely insane.
Cannot wait to take my husband and kiddo here, they’re gonna love it!!

We’ve been eating at Hawaiian time for a long time! Way too many years to count. Food here is amazing!! Wonderful staff who are friendly and kind. The inside is clean, fully stocked and kid friendly. The outside doesn’t look great but it’s all about the food. Delicious, large portions, comes with extra sauces if needed. Prices are great. There is a drive thru but sometimes closes, I assume based on staffing.
Meals have lots of flavor and the mac salad is truly a wonder. Love this spot.
Kid-friendliness: Clean dine in and the beach scenery is fun to look at.
