Hands down the best restaurant in Bend. The menu is seasonal and thoughtful and every dish is so interesting and flavorful. The cocktail menu is so varied and haven’t tried a single thing that I didn’t love. Serena is an amazing server and bartender, she’s so chill and knowledgeable and her enthusiasm is infectious.

There were some wonderful hits, but some misses as well. The dumplings and the salmon crudo were stunning and delicious, a must try. The entrees however were both a bit too salty and ended our dinner on a low note. We ordered the chicken and the scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly and had great flavors, but we couldn't stomach the prosciutto. The chicken was a bit basic, just a fancy chicken parmesan, I wasn't wowed and the olives made it too salty. But the service was great, I'd definitely come back to try other dishes, and the vibes and decor were classy and fun.
There's no denying it - this place is amazing. The food is always top notch and I love how often items are rotated on and off the menu. It's a new experience each time we go.

We’ve ate here twice in the last few months. The first experience was great, the second was a disappointment and we will not be back.
We started with sourdough bread that was brought out burnt (completely black). I asked for different piece and the second one came out perfect. Not a big deal.
Next, we got a couple salads and the Honey Roasted Carrots. The smallest carrots were cooked fine but the larger ones were borderline raw, to the point that they were difficult to cut with the knives at the table. We went ahead and ate them because the waiter was not checking back and our next course was taking a while.
Unfortunately, it was the same way with our entrées. The meat/ seafood was cooked fine, but the veggies were raw. We mentioned this to our waiter and he claimed they strive for al dente. Unfortunately, they missed that mark by a long shot. It was so bad that I asked if they were training new chefs, which unfortunately, they were not. We ate the meat and seafood but decided not to eat the raw veggies. The waiter offered to take off $7 for the bread, which we did not feel was enough on a $300 meal.
We later went to a trivia night at a nearby pub and ordered more food there. The veggies were cooked better and one third of the price.

Great food and killer vibe. Loved our meal. Keep in mind if you go early they have limited space and have to turn tables relatively quick. The host did approach us and after dropping $224 (with tip) I wasn't expecting a visit to tell us we had ten mins to vacate.
Overall however, loved it and look forward to going back.

The food was fantastic
My husband and I sat at a high top table for an early Saturday night dinner and we were thoroughly impressed. I thought the atmosphere was warm and inviting, lively but still allowed for easy conversation. Kudos to the kitchen staff- the meal was some of the best fine dining we’ve had that wasn’t in a tasting menu format. For drinks, the cocktail and mocktail we ordered were balanced and reasonably priced. For food, we got the sourdough bread appetizer along with the escargot and the crudo. Next, the endive salad course was perfectly executed- I could eat it everyday. For entrees, we got the short rib and the scallops- both delicious. I was too full but I watched my husband eat a cannoli inspired dessert, he loved that too. Anytime we are visiting bend, we will be coming back. Thanks for a great meal.

Dear Irene is hands-down our favorite restaurant in Bend. Chef Johnny isn’t just an incredible chef—he’s also a phenomenal human being who makes every visit special.
We’ve dined at nearly all of Bend’s high-end restaurants, and nothing compares to Dear Irene. The food, the atmosphere, and the genuine hospitality all come together to create an experience that truly stands above the rest.
If you’re visiting Bend (or even if you live here), dinner at Dear Irene is an absolute must. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why you love great food and great people.

Intimate restaurant with a fabulous cuisine, impeccably quiet and understated service, and background music lifted straight from Pink Martini. The salmon tartare was delightfully fresh, bright with accents, and virtually a meal in itself. The scallops were beyond tender, albeit with a nicely crusted surface, and were served alongside a wonderfully creamy sauce. The flourless chocolate cake was superb, swimming in a tart raspberry sauce. And the Monkey Business cocktail, Austrian white wine, and espresso were all great accents to a terrific meal. Well done.
